Quality Manager - TDA

We have an exciting new opportunity for a Quality Manager on The Decommissioning Alliance (TDA) based on Sellafield site, West Cumbria.

About the Role:
The Quality Manager will play a crucial role in ensuring the highest standards of quality and compliance within the TDA joint venture team at Sellafield. The position involves overseeing and implementing comprehensive quality assurance and quality control processes across the design, construction, and commissioning phases. The successful candidate will lead quality activities across a multidisciplinary team & manage the Quality Team.

Role Responsibilities:
Develop QA plans for a project, so that the procedures and systems used are appropriate to the needs of the specific job.
Write project specific procedures required, to interface effectively with the Client, JV/Alliance partners Operating Systems.
Assess, monitor and audit vendors, so that the project can be assured that goods supplied meet specification.
Advise project purchasing staff on the competence of vendors, so that QA matters may be taken into account when selecting vendors.
Develop and implement robust QA/QC processes to ensure compliance with industry regulations, standards, and project requirements.
Conduct regular audits, inspections, and assessments to monitor and verify adherence to quality standards throughout the project lifecycle.
Collaborate with project teams to establish quality control plans and procedures for each project phase.
Lead and motivate a diverse team of quality professionals, designers, and project managers to achieve project goals and quality objectives.
Provide guidance and mentorship to team members, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and accountability.
Facilitate regular team meetings to communicate quality objectives, share best practices, and address challenges.
Collaborate with internal stakeholders, including project managers, engineers, and safety professionals, to integrate quality processes seamlessly into project workflows.
Interface with external stakeholders, regulatory bodies, and clients to ensure alignment with project quality requirements and regulatory standards.
Establish and maintain a comprehensive documentation system for quality records, reports, and corrective actions.
Prepare regular and ad-hoc reports on quality performance, trends, and areas for improvement, presenting findings to project leadership and stakeholders.
Identify training needs and coordinate the development of training programs to enhance the skills and knowledge of the quality team and project personnel.
Promote a learning culture that encourages continuous professional development and certification within the quality discipline.
Proactively identify potential quality risks and work with project teams to develop mitigation strategies.
Investigate and analyse quality-related incidents, implementing corrective and preventive actions as needed.

Required Experience:
Minimum 5 years experience as a Quality Engineer or higher role within the nuclear decommissioning or similar high-regulation industries.
Experience in the application of relevant quality/environmental/occupational safety management system standards (ISO 9001/ISO14001/BS OHSAS 45001).
Experience of continuous improvement tools and techniques.
Familiarity with Quality Control inspection and NDT.
Ability to interact and influence at all levels in the organisation and in Clients/Third party organisations.

Skills and Competencies:
Strong leadership and interpersonal skills.
Excellent communication and presentation abilities.
Thorough understanding of QA/QC methodologies and tools.
Proficient in project management and collaboration software.
Analytical mindset with a focus on continuous improvement.

Required Qualifications:
ISO 9001:2015 Lead Auditor.
Proven experience on multidisciplinary teams on complex engineering projects.
In-depth knowledge of relevant industry standards, regulations, and best practices.
Note: Equivalent experience can be used to satisfy this requirement based on the assessor’s judgement.

The rate is negotiable for the right candidate and the duration of this role is initially 12 months with a view to extend.
