We are now recruiting for the exciting role of Manufacturing Engineer - External Supply Chain to be involved in delivering an industry leading, cutting-edge design project for a new type of power station.

Role Profile
This role will be part of the wider RR SMR Manufacturing Engineering (ME) team sitting in the Operations organisation and will work closely with other teams within the RR SMR business, primarily, Quality, Supply Chain and Engineering. The successful candidate will be primarily responsible for assessment and evaluation of new, external supplier capability and managing and coaching external suppliers in achieving technical compliance to processes, procedures, and specifications.
The Manufacturing Engineer – External Supply Chain will report into the Supply Chain ME Manager and will not have any direct reports or budget responsibility initially. RR SMR is a growing business the ME team is currently 32 people but will be rapidly expanding as the business moves into the delivery phase. Depending on the individual there is plenty of opportunity to grow and develop within the role into people management or a technical specialism.
Achievement in this role will be measured against on-time and on-budget delivery of purchased commodities within the external supply chain. This will be achieved by the successful candidate contributing to supplier selection, developing systems and processes for technical management of suppliers, supporting the implementation of the wider RR SMR digital strategy within the external supply chain, providing manufacturing engineering support to engineering teams, supporting the development of manufacturing methods within the external supply chain, and identifying and implementing cost reduction opportunities through engagement within the supply chain.

Key Selection Criteria
• The ability to apply quality principles to the product/production to ensure it consistently meets all customer and business requirements.
• The ability to carry out oversight and inspection of the supply chain from a technical perspective.
• The ability to plan, set up and manage projects in own area of expertise using project management principles including Planning, Governance, Stakeholder Management & Communication, Budget and Cost Control and Risk Management.
• The ability to represent the company when speaking with external parties and understand what communication is required with internal and external stakeholder to enable business requirements to clearly be understood by the supply chain.
• Experienced in either heavy fabrication industries, electrical controls and installations, export control regulations or a highly regulated and controlled industry.

Our Application Process
