Role: Civil / Structural Engineers - UK Nuclear New Build Location: Hinkley 'C' site near Bridgwater, Somerset Salary: £40-60k + excellent benefits Start: October 2020 onwards (due to need to obtain security clearance - client happy to wait for candidates to serve appropriate notice period) An exciting opportunity exists for a Civil / Structural Engineers with (ideally large) steel and concrete structures design and analysis experience and knowledge of relevant civil engineering Eurocodes to work in support of EDF's Hinkley 'C' nuclear power station construction project. These roles will be based at the Hinkley 'C' site near Bridgwater, Somerset The activities are focused on modification of design due to modification of construction method, non-conformance, clarification of design documents, or modification due to building requirements. The civil work design is made on TEKLA, and used as a deliverable directly for construction activities for different tasks. The Civil Engineer will have the support of detailed designers in order to succeed in his/her task. Site Supervisor Assist the Accredited Agents (AAs) and DWE staff with basic enquiries and works that are not licensable activities. This would include (not exhaustive): * Getting kit as required (exclusion devices, tree tags, duct tape, spray paint, marking out tape), so need to be able to get to the equipment hub if needed and have correct kit * Mark out exclusion zones * Check trees from the ground for likely roost features as a link to the AAs as needed; * Answer queries from AA and be link between AAs and SAAs; * "Maintain auditable records as per contract requirements, including Fulcrum. Address issues/initial QA (data recording for the license). Assist with identification and tree tagging/marking works. Provide link between S-AAs and AAs , provision/collection of equipment. Provide support to resolve any issues not directly related to PRF sign-off. Make regular safety observations Qualifications: * A graduate to consultant level ecologist with at least some experience - 2 years minimum ideally * A decent understanding of bat ecology if possible i.e. what a PRF in a tree might look like - similar to extended Phase 1 survey info; although for the general go-for/to role this is less important but a desirable; * Bat survey experience and some familiarity with the woods (ideally have been involved in previous surveys for the site so know them - but again a desirable); * Flexibility to react to a given situation; * Good communication skills and not afraid to ask seemingly basis questions; * Good record keeping * Have a go-to attitude and the ability to solve rather than make problems.
