Production Controller

£19.38 - £26.39 per hour

Do you have a background in manufacturing and enjoy turning round difficult projects? Morson are currently supporting the recruitment of a Production Controller role with one of our prestigious defence clients based in Cambridge. The Production Controller will oversee the full production lifecycle from Customer order, Programme Planning, Material supply and Production progress through to Customer delivery whilst ensuring Customer expectations are met.

The role is being offered on a contract basis on a 12-month contract basis, but our client is also recruiting for permanent roles so there is an opportunity for a permanent role at the end of the contract. The reason for this is to turn around a tricky legacy project, and our client is expanding their operations to do this. You will be on site for 5 days a week, with a half day on Friday. We can offer a rate of £19.38 per hour PAYE or £26.39 per hour Umbrella, with a quick onboarding process.

Responsibilities:

  • Plan and manage production tasks to protect TAKT including processing of required documentation.
  • Planning ownership of a programme stream and control of its key planning input to the Master Production Schedule.
  • Liaison with other internal programme streams to ensure coordinated planning and ultimately operational plan adherence to deliver on time load and off load.
  • Track, compile & report performance via KPI deck as defined by Production Support Manager
  • Shop order housekeeping to maintain correct MRP demand for Supply Chain activities.
  • Control production costs whilst maintaining quality standards.
  • Monitor execution of shop orders ensuring offload dates are achieved.

Essential Requirements:

  • Experience of working within a Production Planning / Manufacturing Engineering office.
  • Substantial experience with MRP/ERPs.
  • Analytical thinking and process driven, with strong Excel skillset.
  • Ability to communicate clearly to multiple stakeholders.
  • Able to respond at pace and look to improve process.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

Desirable Requirements:

  • A background in manufacturing in automotive or defence industry.
  • Happy to deal with issues, demand and supplies.
  • Able to work to work orders and lists on closed shop orders.

Recognising the RESTRICTED nature of the work, suitable candidates will be BPSS cleared or eligible for this level of clearance before starting on site
