Senior HSE Advisor – Project Lead

We’re pleased to present the opportunity to join Urenco as Senior HSE Advisor – Project Lead. Based at our Capenhurst site location you’ll provide a range of expert advice and support in the subject areas covered by the HSE department as required, and contribute to the safe and compliant conduct of activities undertaken by the group projects team, contractors, subcontractors, vendors and service providers across a the Capenhurst site.

The focus of this role will be the delivery of support to the project teams at the Capenhurst site. The individual should be an experienced HSE professional with experience of delivering HSE support and excellence in either a production or project environment, there will be some requirement to develop a working relationship with other members of the HSE team in Group Projects across the global footprint.

What will your day look like?

  • Actively promote a pro-active safety culture, and be a role model, throughout the project lifecycle and across the Group
    • Ensuring HSE objectives are fully embedded into Group Project activities.
    • Driving HSE compliance and providing high quality specialist support and advice on HSE risks
    • Provides pragmatic and specialist advice, guidance and support to the Group Project teams on, Health and Safety, Health and Well being, Environmental Protection, Quality Management systems and Quaility Assurance, Organisational Learning and Quality Improvement, Aligning project teams with Urenco strategies
      • As a subject matter expert, the individual should be able to consult and advise in HSE matters within Urenco and its contractors.
      •  Ensure Urenco’s reputation is robustly protected through the application of industry best practice in legislative compliance through the life cycle of the project.
      • Leveraging experience from a number of industry sectors and continuously scan the market for best practice, analyzing developments and assessing how they can be exploited by Urenco enhance our HSE compliance and capabilities.
      • Ensure knowledge is retained and transferred inter-Urenco, undertake lessons learned reviews and promote continuous improvement in HSE matters.

What do you need to be great at this role?
 

  • Educated to Degree level in a relevant discipline
  • Professional qualification/ accreditation (e.g. NEBOSH or equivalent)
  • Strong CDM experince (Essential)
  • Membership of a professional body (e.g. IOSH or equivalent)
  • Experienced Health and Safety professional with a proven track record in high hazard and heavily regulated environment
  • Experience working in the construction sector with experience in new build, brown field and de-commissioning works
  • Ability to analyse project and organisational requirements and critical success factors and translate these into bespoke HSE delivery strategies
  • Demonstrate experience of developing and implementing HSE improvement programs.
  • Experience of and be skilled in managing ambiguity and being confident to take accountability for supporting the delivery of incident and injury free projects for the business.
  • Experience of managing HSE activities within complex multi stakeholder contractual relationships and leveraging those relationships to improve safety performance.
  • Solid knowledge of best practices in HSE and legislative requirements
  • Demonstrable ability in collaborating with high performing professionals, communicating strategy and working with teams accountable for delivery
  • Ability to build constructive and effective relationships with multi- national internal and external stakeholders
  • Strong knowledge of the EPCM contractor approaches HSE implementation and practices
  • Demonstrable experience working with integrated management systems
  • Demonstrable success in a senior HSE role
