Scottish Power are looking for a MAP Performance Lead to join them on a 6 month contract.

Rate: Inside IR35, Umbrella and PAYE options available

Job Purpose Statement

The Performance Team is responsible for managing all financial processes, reporting requirements and performance and governance aspects of the MAP business.

Critically, the role of Performance Lead involves supporting the Performance Manager, Head of MAP Services and wider MAP team with all aspects of MAP financials, planning/forecasting and KPI metrics.

Specifically, the role involves:
Supporting the MAP Performance Manager in managing all financial governance and performance relating to the operation of the MAP Legal entity
Forecasting financial performance of MAP business in short and long term, robustly challenging assumptions provided by rest of the business as well as the wider Smart programme.
Financial modelling and analysis to help drive the MAP business, including analysis of performance of the business against original approved Business Case

Accountability Statements

  • Work to resolve disputed rental and ETC charges from all energy suppliers, utilising Industry and other data to determine validity of disputes
  • Responsibility for preparation of monthly financial results of the Business for presentation to senior management. This will include comparisons to latest Budget, Rev, Business Case and Business Plan. Ensure, through detailed analysis, robust processes and challenge of data providers, that all movements and variances can be fully explained.
  • Develop and improve weekly and monthly reporting, both internally and externally. This will include preparation of weekly MAP report, monthly KPIs and financial results and maintenance of MAP operating plan.
  • Maintain the financial operating model including budget, forecasting and cost controls to ensure that senior management has complete visibility of the P+L for the MAP business
  • Support Performance Manger in the preparation of all necessary outputs for Budget, Rev and Business Plan submissions throughout the year, including slides to present to senior management. Analyse and robustly challenge inputs from the rest of the Business and the wider Smart programme and be able to explain all movements and variances to prior submissions.
  • Operate complex financial models to track impact of monthly actuals on expected return on investment in MAP business.
  • Maintain approved MAP Business Case models, documenting assumptions, inputs and source information. Challenge inputs from the Business. Understand and explain reasons for changes from previous versions and from original approved business case.
  • Work closely with MAP Performance Manager to develop and maintain enduring Health & Safety, Environment and Quality policies, and ensure continuing compliance.
  • Oversee the financial control framework that will provide financial visibility of all movements of assets - this must include fault and warranty cost recovery, assets that have churned to other suppliers, assets that have been removed and returned to other suppliers
  • Liaise with the Performance Manager on the delivery of all audit requirements for the internal and external control of the MAP business
  • Review MAP contracts and liaise with Control in order to get contracts dual signed
  • Constantly review processes with the Performance team and develop improved ways of identifying issues or anomalies.
  • Provide ad hoc support to stakeholders within Control and the wider business as required.

Skills, Knowledge & Experience

  • Degree qualified with significant knowledge of key financial, commercial and associated policies and procedures
  • Significant experience in a financial role with an understanding of cost and income drivers within an asset management business
  • Proven ability to generate continuous improvement in daily operations.
  • Good knowledge of SAP Financials
  • Ability to influence and lead a wide range of internal and external stakeholders and suppliers focused on differing interests – requires high level of business knowledge, influencing and negotiating experience
  • Strong planning and co-ordination skills over a long term time horizon
  • Ability to prioritise work and deliver results whilst managing multiple stakeholders and competing demands within a rapidly changing environment
  • Sound understanding of the commercial environment and ability to demonstrate strong analytical and problem solving skills·
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills at all levels of the organisation
  • The job-holder would ideally possess a solid understanding of the economic and physical processes associated with asset management

Special Requirements (not mandatory)

Minimum Criteria (mandatory)

  • Experience in a business, numerate or technical discipline with a proven track record of finance management
  • Detailed knowledge of SAP Financials including Purchasing and Reporting modules.
  • Strong financial acumen and understanding of cost and income drivers within an asset management business
  • Expert in MS Office (best practise modelling, reports, advanced formulas, pivots, charts, macros)
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work using own initiative.
