Are you a seasoned Rail Project Manager looking to contribute to one of the UK’s most exciting and ambitious infrastructure projects?
Morson Talent is proud to be partnering with EDF to recruit a Rail Project Manager for the Sizewell C (SZC) development — a cornerstone of the UK’s low-carbon future. With planning permission granted, construction underway, and government support secured, this is your opportunity to help deliver one of the most high-profile megaprojects in Europe.
About Sizewell C
As the sister project to Hinkley Point C, Sizewell C will generate clean, reliable electricity for 6 million homes for at least 60 years. It plays a key role in Britain’s journey toward Net Zero by 2050. The Associated Developments (AD) programme is essential to support the main build, and minimise disruption to the local community.
This role is focused on the AD4: Rail Projects scope, part of the broader Civils and Associated Developments portfolio.
Scope of Rail Projects (AD4)
Upgrading the Saxmundham to Leiston (SIZ) branch line and its junction with the East Suffolk (ESK) line
Construction of a new, temporary railhead in the Ancillary Construction Area (ACA)
A single-track connection between the SIZ branch and the main SZC site
A new, temporary railhead within the Temporary Construction Area (TCA)
ESK line upgrades delivered in partnership with Network Rail, including signalling, track, and level crossings
The Role
Reporting to the Senior Project Manager (Rail), you will be accountable for the full life cycle of the rail infrastructure projects. This includes planning, design, procurement, enabling works, construction, commissioning, and handover. You’ll work within defined budget, quality, and safety parameters, managing both internal and external stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities
Define project scope and interface requirements with other programme elements
Lead project planning and implementation aligned with SZC procedures
Drive performance across cost, schedule, safety, and quality
Manage stakeholder relationships including Network Rail, local authorities, internal teams, and suppliers
Oversee level 3 schedules and integrate them with broader project plans
Apply Earned Value Management (EVM) and project controls best practices
Support change control, risk management and commercial negotiations
Lead interface management with adjacent projects and disciplines
Ensure delivery of all project deliverables and compliance with safety and regulatory standards
Contribute to continuous improvement and knowledge-sharing across the programme
What You’ll Need
Proven experience delivering complex, multi-disciplinary rail projects
Familiarity with Network Rail standards (e.g., GRIP, Engineering Management for Projects, AMP)
Demonstrated leadership in engineering, design, procurement, and construction
Experience managing NEC or FIDIC contracts
Skilled in Earned Value, risk, schedule, and change management
Ability to engage effectively with local and national stakeholders
Experience of full project lifecycle from concept through to close-out
Chartered Engineer (or equivalent) in a relevant discipline
Strong working knowledge of CDM Regulations
Personal Track Safety (PTS) and CSCS certification
Proficient in MS Teams, Outlook 365, BIM, GIS, and document control platforms (e.g. A-Site, Teamcenter)
French language skills are an advantage but not required
