Mechanical Maintenance Technician - Plymouth
2 positions available - 1 x day worker, 1 x shift worker
Full-time | 2 Positions Available (1 x Day Shift, 1 x Shift Work)

Day Shift - Mon - Fri,

Shift Work Pattern - 4-week rota

  • 4 days on, 4 off
  • 4 days on, 1 off
  • 3 Nights, 3 off
  • 2 Mid Weekend Days on, 2 off
  • 3 Nights on, 2 off

My Client is one of the largest independent generators in the UK and Ireland, with an asset base that covers multiple technologies and a range of revenue streams, providing a range of system services across the energy and balancing spectrum.
They are currently hiring two Mechanical Technicians to support their operations team with both day and shift-based roles available. This is an exciting opportunity for experienced professionals to work on complex equipment and contribute to a safe, efficient, and high-performing plant environment.

Responsibilities

  • Reporting to the Production Team Leader, your key responsibilities will include:
  • Performing scheduled and reactive mechanical maintenance on process plant equipment.
  • Responding to emergencies and unscheduled incidents to ensure plant safety and operational continuity.
  • Diagnosing and resolving complex technical issues using the Maintenance Management System (e.g., SAP).
  • Preparing risk assessments, method statements, and technical documentation.
  • Coordinating contractors and ensuring work complies with health, safety, and environmental standards.
  • Acting as a technical specialist for designated plant areas.
  • Supporting operations by effectively communicating maintenance activities and equipment status.

Experience & Knowledge:

  • Strong practical knowledge of pumps, valves, hydraulics, pneumatics, and other mechanical systems - essential
  • Experience with maintenance systems like SAP - essential
  • Background in power generation or similar industrial environment - desirable

Qualifications:

  • Completed a recognised apprenticeship or formal technical training (e.g., City & Guilds Parts I, II, III) - essential
  • HNC/ONC or equivalent in engineering - desirable
  • Membership of a professional engineering body - desirable
