Role: Project Manager - Approval Planning Onshore Wind Germany

Location: Essen/Remote

Salary: €75-90K + bonus

My client is an established European renewable energy developer/IPP with an international presence and over 2000 employees globally.

They currently have a 10GW pipeline globally and are looking for a an experienced Project Manager with an approval/planning background to support with their continued growth within the Germany, France, Spain, Italy and the UK

The Role:

As part of the technical Planning team, you will be responsible for the approval procedures for onshore wind energy projects in accordance with the Federal Immission Control Act (BImSchG).
In close cooperation with the Business Development, Commercial and Technical Asset Management teams, you will contribute to the optimal project configuration. They act as the central interface between internal and external stakeholders such as experts and authorities and have overall responsibility for obtaining all necessary project approvals on time and efficiently.

The Duties:

Project management:

  • Support of wind energy projects from the preparation of the approval planning to the readiness for construction
  • Analysis of projects for possible approval risks
  • Coordination with authorities involved in the approval process
  • Participation in public hearings
  • Internal external sowie Stakeholder management

Approval management:

  • Collaboration in the approval planning and preparation of the application documents
  • Obtaining and reviewing all relevant expert opinions
  • Active support of the approval process
  • Evaluation of statements by the authorities involved, public bodies and the public
  • Development of strategies to avoid approval delays
  • Advising the project team on licensing issues
  • Support in opposition and lawsuit proceedings with the involvement of the legal department

Your experience:

  • You have successfully completed a degree (university of applied sciences or university) in the field of environmental sciences or spatial planning or a degree in the field of engineering or have a comparable qualification.
  • Your relevant and demonstrably successful professional experience in the field of approval procedures for wind energy complements your profile. We appreciate your high degree of personal responsibility and initiative, your communication skills and your enjoyment of collegial interaction with each other.

In addition

  • Strong knowledge of the BImSchG and other relevant legal provisions as well as regional planning
  • Good knowledge of industry-standard software packages such as WindPRO and ArcGIS is desirable.
  • Experience in project management and in the coordination of internal and external teams
  • Strong communication skills and negotiation skills
