We are looking for reactor system design engineers with a range of experience from graduate through to principal engineers that have a background in fluid systems design and a strong understanding of process engineering principles.
Reporting to a Reactor Systems Group Lead, the role will involve managing and developing the design progression of fluid and safety systems across the Reactor Island.
You will be responsible for the development of design solutions in line with industry best practice, policies and procedures whilst considering operational experience and lessons learnt to ensure a robust, low cost, high-quality design.

You will be required to author and/ or technically check high quality fluid system design outputs in the form of but not limited to:

  • Requirements and interface management
  • System Design Descriptions
  • Piping & Instrumentation Diagrams
  • A functional Bill of Materials
  • Fluid flow and Process Equipment sizing calculations.

You will be expected to Manage and implement a systems engineering approach to Reactor Systems design through implementation of key internal processes, and challenge processes to drive improvement where required

This role will ideally suit an individual with a strong academic background in in Nuclear Engineering or Nuclear Reactor Physics (or possessing equivalent, relevant work experience).

The role will be based in Derby, Warrington and Manchester, though most of the role can be performed remotely, with occasional (1-2 times/month) need to visit the Derby office.

Confidence can sometimes hold us back from applying for a job. But we’ll let you in on a secret: there’s no such thing as a ‘perfect’ candidate. If you feel you meet 75% of the requirements for this role, we would love to hear from you.
Also, if you are considering a career move or a sector-jump, please get in touch, we welcome applications from people with transferable skills.
