Programme Scheduler

We are currently looking for a Programme Scheduler to join our client working on a large construction project in Suffolk.

You will be working in one of the Programme Controls Teams as part of the Scheduling Discipline of Project Controls, under the functional leadership of the Scheduling Lead and day to day for the Programme Controls Manager to lead all Scheduling activities for the Programme or a sub-division thereof (henceforth “Programme”). This will include the timely and accurate maintenance of the Integrated Work Schedule (IWS) in adherence with the project processes, management of (contract) schedules, and provision of time-related data and analysis. To assist and support the PMO when required to ensure alignment with the Level 2 (client) IWS. To support the Scheduling Lead in the development of Scheduling standards, policies and strategies. To support the project in making informed decisions to support the efficient and timely delivery of work scope.
It is the overarching objective of the Project Controls Function to act as a centre of excellence: the intelligent owners of the single source of delivery performance information, operating as an integrated enabler for the successful delivery of the Project.

Principal Accountabilities

Team:
• Support the PCM in the implementation and maintenance of Project Controls processes for Scheduling, including the production of monthly reports, through the provision of intelligent information and analysis.
• Lead, coach and support all Planning Engineers within the Programme.
• Maintain an awareness of schedule interfaces with other Programmes and their potential impact.
• Collaborate with other Disciplines of Project Controls, as well as other Project Support Functions, to help deliver Project goals in keeping with the principles of Trust, Transparency and Teamwork.

Core Processes:
• Produce and maintain the schedule baseline IWS in Primavera 6 (P6), with fully logic-linked work plans aligned to the Work Breakdown Structures (WBS) and utilising approved construction techniques
• Ensure the IWS is updated to reflect work progress and performance, to an agreed timeframe defined by the Central Controls Team/
• Manage resources and integration of contractor schedules into the IWS.
• Oversee the analysis, review and acceptance of contractor schedules.
• Manage schedule change within the Programme.
• Assist in the Trend & Change process, including analysis at Programme level, generating performance indicators and providing feedback on areas of risk and opportunities.
• Identify, analyse and provide solutions to time-related issues.
• Co-ordinate, verify and produce Programme-level schedule reports to a defined reporting cycle, including commentary on key time-related drivers and performance issues.
• Adhere to Project governance and Scheduling standards and procedures.
• Ensure all Project documents, in particular Sensitive Nuclear Information, are correctly protectively marked, and protected in accordance with the policies and procedures.

Functional Management:
• Accountable for the adherence of direct reports to Project governance and standards.
• Proactively seek to continuously improve Discipline performance by implementing best practice and learning.
• Facilitate collaboration with Programme teams and wider industry partners to ensure consistency and transparency in approach and data.
• Take necessary care to ensure that direct reports properly protect the confidentiality, integrity and availability of corporate information from unauthorised disclosure, modification or destruction.
• Support the recruitment process for the Discipline.

Knowledge, Skills, Qualifications, Experience

Essential
• Detailed understanding of Scheduling methodologies and techniques
• Technical and practical comprehension of engineering, procurement and construction methods and techniques in a UK context
• Ability to produce accurate, complete and fully logic-linked construction plans
• Good working knowledge of P6
• Understanding of other Disciplines of Project Controls (particularly Estimating, Cost and Risk and Change) including management techniques and associated software.
• Deep understanding of earned value analysis.
• Working knowledge of schedule risk analysis techniques
• Good commercial awareness
• High level of analytical and numerical skills
• Good attention to detail
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills at all working and management levels.
• Management and Leadership experience of people on major projects

Desirable skill:
• Influencing skills.
• Ability to build relationships with Project stakeholders, and to act on behalf of the Programme Team as their representative.
• Working knowledge of French language an advantage.
• Membership of one or more Schedule or Project Management organisation e.g. APM, PMI, or a suitable equivalent

Technical Competencies
The job-holder will also be expected to have a working level of knowledge of, and to use, the following (or similar equivalent) software tools:
• Synchro (4D modeling)
• Acumen Fuse (Schedule Analysis) or equivalent tool.
• Microsoft Office software (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
• TeamCenter (Document Control).
