Construction Planning Engineers - Nuclear

|
Bridgwater, Somerset, England

Role: Construction Planning Engineers / Planners (various levels, up to Principal level) - Hinkley ‘C’ Nuclear Power Station project

Location: Bridgwater, Somerset (TA5 1UD) - 4days/week on site / 1 day at home

Salary: £50000-80000 + £1500/mo travel Alloance

Start: July2025 onwards

An exciting opportunity exists for Planning Engineers skilled in the use of P6 and with experience working on large construction projects to work in support of EDF’s Hinkley ‘C’ nuclear power station construction project.

The client is looking for Planning Engineers with various levels of experience, from those looking to take the next step in their career up to Senior Planning Engineer level, to more experienced planners looking for an exciting challenge offering excellent long term career possibilities.

The positions will be based at the Hinkley ‘C’ site near Bridgwater, Somerset (TA5 1UD) 3 days/week, with the rest worked from home. Candidates will be required to obtain nuclear site security clearance for this role.

Whilst previous nuclear industry experience would be useful, this is not essential - prior experience supporting large regulated industry projects (e.g. oil and gas, rail, defence, petrochemical, marine, etc) would be equally well suited and happily considered.

Key Responsibilities

Key responsibilities will be:

  • Support the IPC Planning Manager and/or PCM in the implementation and maintenance of Integrated Project Controls processes for Planning, including the production of monthly reports, through the provision of intelligent information and analysis
  • Collaborate with other Disciplines of Integrated Project Controls, as well as other Project Support Functions, to help deliver Project goals in keeping with the HPC principles of Trust, Transparency and Teamwork
  • Maintain an awareness of schedule interfaces with other Programmes and their potential impact
  • Produce and maintain the schedule baseline IWS in Primavera 6 (P6), with fully logic-linked work plans aligned to the Work Breakdown Structures (WBS) and utilising approved construction techniques
  • Ensure the Level 2 IWS is updated to an agreed timeframe for monthly reporting
  • Ensure the HPC Level 3 schedules are updated when required to reflect work progress and performance, to an agreed timeframe defined by the Central Controls Team
  • Ensure that contractor schedules are produced in accordance with HPC processes and ensure that they align to the IWS forecast position
  • Maintain daily and weekly work planning in 4D model
  • Provide quality checks on the Scheduling data

Qualifications

  • HND or equivalent qualification in Engineering, Construction or other related field
  • Proven relevant experience in a Project Management or Project Controls environment in a similar Scheduling role
  • Experience in the use of scheduling software, ideally Primavera P6 version 7 and above
