Reporting to: Accounts Payable Manager

About the Role

We are currently seeking a Temporary Payments Assistant to join our clients Finance team in Hemel Hempstead. This is a key temporary role focused on ensuring smooth, accurate, and secure payments to suppliers and team members.

You’ll be hands-on with preparing, validating, and reconciling payment files, handling sensitive data with care, and verifying high-value transactions. It’s a vital position that supports business continuity and keeps things running behind the scenes.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare weekly supplier and team member payment runs
  • Process and validate bank detail changes, including direct supplier contact for verification
  • Create and upload accurate payment files using PTX and Boomerang data
  • Manage payment approvals and ensure timely submission to meet payment schedules
  • Post journals for ad hoc payments and maintain reconciliation of control accounts
  • Communicate payment details to suppliers, guests, and internal teams
  • Respond to payment queries promptly and professionally

Who We’re Looking For

You are an organised and proactive finance professional with a keen eye for detail. You’re confident working independently in a fast-paced environment, thrive under pressure, and take pride in maintaining accuracy and discretion in everything you do.

  • Prior experience in finance, payments, or a high-volume administrative role
  • Strong Excel skills and confidence working with payment templates and reports
  • Familiarity with financial systems such as PTX, Bottomline, or Barclays Banking Portal
  • Excellent attention to detail and accurate data entry skills
  • Clear, professional verbal communication skills – especially for phone-based bank verification
  • Ability to prioritise tasks, meet tight deadlines, and handle sensitive data confidentially
  • High level of customer service and stakeholder engagement
