Our client Scottish Power are currently recruiting for a Performance Accountant to join the team based in Glasgow City Centre.

This role with be a maternity cover role for 12 months initially and hybrid with 2-3 days a week required in the office.

Candidate must be a fully qualified accountant.

About the role
• As Performance Accountant, you will support and contribute to the preparation of the business results, budgets and forecasts, analysis and reporting across the full ledger, providing comprehensive analysis and commentary to support each submission.

• Working closely with operational business teams and Control colleagues, you will monitor and challenge financial and non-financial performance, constantly review risks and sensitivities to current and future year targets while proposing pragmatic solutions and corrective actions where appropriate.

What you’ll do
• You’ll play a key role as part of a small, focused team and contribute to a positive team environment, liaising with key stakeholders across the business to understand and critically challenge all aspects of business performance.

• The successfully candidate will have the ability to provide comprehensive analysis of all financial and non-financial performance for their respective business areas, including actual monthly results, quarterly business forecasting, annual budgets and long-term business plans.

• You will provide clear updates to business management and senior managers in the ScottishPower finance function on all aspects of business performance and risks, along with providing cost and revenue segmentation and analysis across a range of routes to market and customer types.

• You will actively engage in key business meetings ensuring financial implications are fully understood and considered and provide comprehensive analysis of all financial and non-financial performance for your respective business areas.

About you:
• Being a qualified Accountant, you will be a highly motivated self-starter with strong numerical and analytical skills.

• The successful candidate should be adaptable and agile, able to adjust quickly according to changing demands and key priorities, drawing on experience, and expertise while maintaining a strong commercial focus.

• Holding excellent time management, planning, and organising skills, you’ll thrive under pressure and be capable of working to challenging deadlines.

• Preferably an understanding, or working knowledge, of SAP for daily accounting tasks involving reporting, journals, master data set up and purchasing approvals.

• Confident in assimilating a large amount of complex, interlinked data and you will be able to make informed decisions based, ensuring business and financial risk is mitigated where possible.

• Holding strong communication skills and able to work in a collaborative style to engage with key stakeholders across the business to discuss and review key findings, with the resilience to deal with any challenges faced.

• Reliable, adaptable and experienced of control processes/costing, budget allocations and ensuring strong governance around spend commitments – purchase orders and contracts.
