Project Engineer - BOP

Project Engineer – Civil Works Programme
Location: London (Hybrid – 3 days per week expected on site)
Sector: Nuclear New Build
Contract Type: Long-Term Contract

Introduction

At Morson, we are proud to partner with a key player in the UK’s new nuclear build landscape as they progress the ambitious Sizewell C (SZC) project. We are currently supporting the recruitment of a Project Engineer within the Civil Works Programme (CWP) – a critical role at the heart of the Engineering & Technical team.

This is a unique opportunity to contribute to one of the UK’s most important infrastructure programmes, which aims to replicate the success of Hinkley Point C and deliver low-carbon energy for generations to come.

About the Role

As Project Engineer, you will play a pivotal part in supporting the delivery of complex engineering workstreams across one or more key technical areas. Reporting into the Technical Engineering Manager, you’ll collaborate with a wide range of stakeholders to drive engineering definition, technical assurance, and design integration – all within the broader strategic context of the SZC development phase.

The Engineering & Technical function is responsible for defining technical requirements, leading the full lifecycle of design delivery, and ensuring seamless constructability integration across the Civil Works Programme.

Key Responsibilities

Assist in defining and validating technical requirements and specifications, engaging with the Design Authority and engineering teams.

Manage and support the resolution of technical open points and design changes, progressing through governance structures such as the Technical Direction Forum and No Change Committee.

Contribute to design assurance activities across the end-to-end lifecycle, ensuring all deliverables meet SZC’s acceptance criteria.

Support risk mitigation by participating in risk management activities and ensuring technical issues are appropriately recorded and managed.

Collaborate closely with the L3 Design Supply Chain, providing input on technical queries, change notifications, and communications.

Coordinate technical interfaces with key delivery areas including Site Establishment, Off-Site Infrastructure, the Nuclear Island, and CIBOP.

Ensure compliance with SZC’s engineering processes, from initial requirement capture through to final design release.

Work to integrated schedules, ensuring design delivery aligns with project timelines and contract milestones.

Nuclear Safety Considerations

This post may carry responsibilities with implications for nuclear safety. These will be outlined in the Nuclear Baseline documentation relevant to the postholder’s specific workstream.

Areas of Scope

This position may be aligned to one of several specialist areas within the CWP, including:

Enabling Works & Earthworks

Marine & Tunnelling

Nuclear Island

CI-BOP & Heat Sink

Ancillary Works (e.g. roads, networks, ancillary buildings)

Key Stakeholder Engagement

You’ll engage with a variety of internal and external stakeholders, including:

SZC Civil Works Programme teams

Site Establishment & Off-Site Infrastructure leads

NI and CIBOP Programme stakeholders

The MEH Alliance

Tier 1 Design Supply Chain partners (e.g. multidisciplinary design consultants)

Technical representatives within the Design Authority

Delivery project managers and engineering leads across the Civil Works Alliance

Why Join?

This is more than just a job — it’s a chance to contribute to the future of clean energy in the UK. Youll be working on a once-in-a-generation infrastructure project alongside world-class engineering teams, supported by a collaborative and forward-thinking project environment.
