Contracts Manager

We are currently recruiting for a Contracts Manager on a 6-month contract basis for our client Scottish Power based in Blantyre.

Job Purpose statement:
ScottishPower will deploy c5m meters to meet its mandatory obligation for Smart Metering. It will meet this mandate through the purchase and operation of these assets within its meter asset provision business (MAP). The MAP will have assets under management of c£800m by the end of the Smart Programme and will continue to be the MAP for SPERL and all other suppliers into the future.

The main purpose of this role:
•Commercial oversight of the end to end procurement process to secure products and services for the MAP up to the value of >£50m
•Negotiate and execute complex high value contracts for assets and services up to the value of >£10m
•Lead the contract management of all of MAPs product and service providers – c.20 companies
•Commercial representation at industry bodies and trade associations promoting the MAP’s strategic objectives
•Lead the implementation of new assets and services, effectively communicating with senior managers in the Smart Programme and Customer Business

Accountability Statements:

• Full review and sign-off of contract terms
• Scope and draft detailed SLAs and specifications with appropriate business sign-off
• Produce ITT & Scoring Matrix
• Ensure compliance with SP Policies (Cyber, Data Protection, Health and Safety etc.)
• Present recommendations to senior management
• Lead the stakeholder management and internal governance to obtain contract sign-off
• Negotiate and execute complex high value contracts, ensuring all material risks are mitigated.
• Scope and draft detailed SLAs and specifications with appropriate business sign-off
• Produce ITT & Scoring Matrix
• Ensure compliance with SP Policies (Cyber, Data Protection, Health and Safety etc.)
• Present recommendations to senior management
• Lead the stakeholder management and internal governance to obtain contract sign-off
• Implement and manage a robust account management process – Products and Services
• Management packs detailing performance against SLA, spend and escalated issues
• Co-ordinate and lead account management meetings ensuring all internal stakeholder issues are represented
• Manage sign-off of any material changes e.g. meter firmware versions, critical components, work instructions.
• Meter Transition management (introduction of variants)
• All contract variations and additional commercial requirements
• Maximise recovery of warranty payments and any other contract liabilities

Skills, Knowledge & Experience
•Degree qualified or equivalent business experience
•Excellent experience in negotiating contracts
•Understanding of meter technology deployed within Smart rollout
•Understanding of contractual processes and SP MAP requirements
•Ability to manage a range of complex relationships both internally and externally, often against a backdrop of conflicting aims and priorities
•Strong planning and co-ordination skills over a long-term time horizon
•Ability to prioritise work and deliver results whilst managing multiple stakeholders and competing demands within a rapidly changing environment
•Excellent written and verbal communication skills at all levels of the organisation
