Morson is delighted to be working in partnership with a market leading Defence organisation to recruit a Contracts Manager for an initial 6 Month contract. My client is based in Barrow In Furness and the successful candidate would need to be present on site when business needs require this. There is a flexible rate on offer for this role. Role Description

Support and manage the development of the commercial strategy to be able to lead the Commercial & Contractual Management across a number of the business’ programmes including, but not limited to:
• Leadership of commercial activities ranging from assigned contractual tasks, to management of business critical contracts and relationships in order to mitigate commercial risk, ensure compliance with contractual requirements and maximising business success
• Provide advice and guidance to the business on commercial, contractual and legal issues to influence and facilitate effective business decision making and resolution of customer satisfaction issues
• Lead the support and guidance to develop others in the effective execution of commercial tasks, ensuring the swift resolution of commercial issues
• Ensuring all contractual requirements are understood by the business and are delivered upon
• Development of the Commercial team

Core Duties

• Commercial Leadership of the Programmes including subsequent contractual changes/amendments
• Lead Commercial strategic input to Business Winning solution and resultant proposal strategy
• Lead in the Request for Bid approval process including drafting, negotiating and agreement of contracts and business arrangements with customers and partners• Developing and maintaining key external and internal customer relationships
• Develop and motivate reporting staff ensuring they are fully aware of and capable of meeting their accountabilities
• Maintenance of commercial procedures and policies to support improved business effectiveness
• Identify potential commercial risks relating to contracts, agreements and business relationships
• Support and development of the team in the effective execution of commercial tasks, ensuring the swift resolution of commercial issues.
• Ensure appropriate flow down of commercial/contractual terms to supply base ensuring a balance between cost and risk
• Provide advice and guidance on commercial, contractual and legal issues to influence and facilitate effective business decision making and resolution of customer satisfaction issues and disputes.
• Interfacing collaboratively with the Commercial Team Leaders to ensure commercial approach supports the business strategy and objectives
• Represent the business at customer, supplier and partner meetings and is able to travel to meet business needs as required

Knowledge, Skills and Qualifications

• Experienced in leading and developing teams
• Demonstrable experience in UK MOD contracting and processes with knowledge of UK MOD procurement and DEFCON’s/UK MOD Contractual terms
• Demonstrable experience and ability in assessing, drafting, negotiating and managing a range of contractual arrangements.
• Demonstrable experience of assessing contractual terms and requirements in order to determine and advise on contractual responsibilities and liabilities
• Demonstrable experience in pricing with a good understanding of cost estimating
• Ability to interpret and manage customer requirements
• Ability to formulate and prepare proposals for internal approval and subsequent submission to customers.
• Ability to work within company and regulatory procedures
