ESH Advisor

We have an exciting new opportunity for a EHS ADVISOR to be based at our clients premises in Barrow.

About the Role:

Joining our Infrastructure Asset Solutions line of business, the successful candidate will become part of a respected and ambitious team working in the Nuclear & Defence Sector.

You will engage with and support our operational teams throughout the life cycle on a construction project in Barrow-In-Furness, where we hold the role of Principal Contractor under CDM.

The EHS Advisor will work directly with the project team, the wider supply-chain and our client supporting the governance of the Health and Safety across the project. This role involves promoting and influencing EHS behaviours and culture, adding value through innovation and best practice, whilst being accountable for ensuring the safe delivery of EHS excellence.

The role will be responsible for:

Ensuring delivery meets the company and client requirements by determining safe methods of working, identifying hazards and unsafe conditions, and advising on written method statements, assisting in producing risk assessments as well as preparation and review of safety documentation.
Carrying out site safety inspections, undertaking targeted audits and promoting a strong safety culture to the workforce to improve behavioural safety.
Development and implementation of forward initiatives and training to Learn from Experience, providing coaching and enabling continuous improvement.
Ensuring management and workforce are aware of Site Licensing Conditions, site requirements, HS&E legislation, environmental consents, impact assessments, codes of practice changes and any other changes which may occur.
Engagement with all levels within the organization.
Providing competent conventional safety advice.
Injury/incident reporting and investigation.

Essential Skills & Experience:

NEBOSH General and/or Construction certificate.
Significant site and construction experience.
Experience in incident investigation and reporting.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills and strong IT skills.
Good interpersonal skills and a willingness to work with people at all levels of an organisation.
Good knowledge of CDM.
UK Citizenship.
Technical member of IOSH (minimum).

Any offer of employment will be strictly subject to the relevant security requirements for the role being met. This means that you will need to have, or be able to obtain, Baseline Personnel Security Standard (BPSS) clearance and either Security Check (SC) or Developed Vetting (DV) clearance.
