Are you a driven and experienced HSE professional ready to lead process safety in a forward-thinking, safety-first organisation? We are currently seeking a Process Safety Manager to join our team, providing expert HSE advice and supporting the safe operation of business activities, facilities, and resources. This is a remote-based role with the flexibility to work from anywhere in Scotland, complemented by occasional site visits as required.

The Role

As the Process Safety Manager, you will take a lead role in managing Health, safety, and environmental risks, embedding a proactive safety culture across all operations. You’ll drive improvements in process safety performance and ensure compliance with regulatory standards and internal policies.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead risk identification, assessment and management through HEMP, including QRA, HAZOP, HAZID, LOPA, etc.
  • Provide expert advice on process safety issues across diverse operational environments.
  • Define and monitor Process Safety Performance Indicators (PSPIS) and related metrics.
  • Supervise process safety risk management activities and support the development of Operational HSE cases.
  • Contribute to the development and analysis of Major Accident Hazard (MAH) Bowtie diagrams.
  • Review and assess Competent Authority reports relating to Safety Critical Elements.
  • Promote risk reduction strategies aligned with the ALARP principle.
  • Ensure improvement projects meet applicable safety regulations and standards.
  • Develop and implement initiatives that promote continuous HSE improvement.
  • Produce regular HSE reports, statistics and KPIs.
  • Support investigations of incidents and ensure timely closure of actions.

What We’re Looking For

We are looking for someone with a strong technical background in process safety and a passion for high safety standards. Key qualifications and experience include:

  • NEBOSH General Certificate (required)
  • Degree in Science or Engineering (preferred)
  • In-depth knowledge of process safety and relevant legislation
  • Experience in risk assessment techniques and safety management systems
  • Project management skills and attention to detail
  • Strong communication, analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Consistent and systematic approach to record keeping and reporting
