Job Title: Security Vetting Support Administrator (Contract)

Rate: £20 per hour (Umbrella)

Location: Bolton 

Contract Type: 12-month contract 


Overview of the Department:

Join a dynamic and vital team at the forefront of security vetting. This crucial department is responsible for ensuring the integrity and security of our personnel, playing a key role in identifying and managing potential risks. As part of our highly motivated and progressive team, you will be the first line of defense in delivering security-cleared personnel and supporting the organization’s overarching security objectives.

Key Responsibilities:

As a Security Vetting Support Administrator, your role will be diverse, fast-paced, and instrumental in achieving our security goals. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Vetting Coordination: Supporting the Recruitment team in obtaining and managing security clearances and checks for all new employees.
  • Query Resolution: Managing confidential and complex vetting enquiries, serving as the primary point of contact for vetting issues and problems.
  • External Liaison: Liaising effectively with UKSV (United Kingdom Security Vetting) and other external agencies as required.
  • Platform Management: Utilizing external IT platforms to obtain, update, and manage security clearances efficiently.
  • Security Services Support: Providing comprehensive support to various areas within Security Services.
  • Project Leadership: Leading and driving departmental projects from inception to successful implementation, ensuring deadlines are met.
  • Strategy Implementation: Supporting the Personnel Security Manager in the successful execution of the Vetting Strategy, contributing to organizational risk reduction.

Skills and Experience Required:

Essential:

  • Proven experience with HMG Baseline Personnel Security Standard (BPSS) and UKSV vetting processes.
  • Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to handle sensitive information discreetly.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively under pressure and prioritize a varied workload to meet deadlines.
  • A professional and meticulous approach to tasks, with an outstanding eye for detail and accuracy.
  • Proficiency in using electronic Vetting Databases and multiple IT platforms.
  • A proactive “can-do” attitude, committed to achieving successful outcomes.

Desirable:

  • Experience and knowledge of the Ministry of Defence (MOD) and broader defence industry.
  • Relevant vetting and Personnel Security experience or a recognized qualification.
  • Awareness and knowledge of recruitment and onboarding processes within the defence industry.
  • Understanding of Personnel Security awareness for the ongoing aftercare and management of security-cleared staff.
  • Presentational experience for the delivery of training or briefings.
