I am currently partnering with a fantastic health and social care client who are looking for an Employee Relations Manager to join their team on a 4 – 6 month basis. This role is covering a period of sickness and has an ASAP start.

This role can be based anywhere in the UK but having occasional access to the Manchester office is desirable.

Reporting into the Head of HR Operations and have line manager responsibilities for 5 ER Advisors. Dealing with high volume ER case work, typically working on 160 live cases. Ranging from low level cases to more complex and sensitive cases. Previous experience representing in tribunal is essential.

Salary: £50,000 - £55,000 FTE.

Day rate: £200 - £250 per day.

Key responsibilities:

  • Ability to handle high volume of complex cases
  • Previous knowledge of employment legislation and HR policies and processes.
  • Coaching and supporting line managers on complex cases.
  • Supporting the ER Advisors on any cases that are required to be escalated.
  • Providing advice to the business on ER matters ensuring they are accountable for case handling of all complex ER matters relating to misconduct, grievance, performance management, health and wellbeing cases across the business areas UK wide.
  • Stakeholder management and maintaining effective communication levels.
  • End to end management of complex disciplinary and investigation processes.
  • Driving informal resolution where appropriate.
  • Gathering, recording and reporting on essential data to support business decisions.
  • Producing high quality documentation including investigation reports, letters and meeting notes.

Skills and experience:

  • Comfortable working at pace with a high volume of cases to be working on at any one time.
  • Knowledge of UK employment law and legislation.
  • Ability to work under pressure whilst maintaining and not compromising on professional standards.
  • Proactive management skills and support to the ER Advisors.
  • Ability to build strong working relationships with stakeholders.
