Project Manager

We are currently looking for a Project Manager to join our client working on a large construction project in Suffolk.
Your job purpose will be to drive the delivery of engineering work as part of the Civil Works Alliance and the engineering, procurement and manufacturing of key contracts.
Each Project Manager will work closely with the programmes Implementation Partners, supply chain teams, the Responsible Designer (RD), the quality team and the other suppliers to prepare for and execute the delivery phase of the project. Our Project Managers will focus on one of the following areas:
Civil Works: the Project Manager role will support the development and delivery of scope up to the value of £250m to cost, schedule and quality. This post also has the responsibility to ensure delivery of all (or part of) the engineering, procurement, manufacturing, construction and handover activities in accordance with the overall Project schedule

Principal Accountabilities, Activities and Decisions
The role holder will:
• Be responsible for the timely delivery of engineering studies by the RD or by key design contractors and for ensuring they meet the needs of the project, including technical queries / Request for Information.
• Drive the implementation of site-specific design changes into the design deliverables in their programme, including contract specifications to enable robust pricing
• Manage internal interfaces (between areas and projects) and external interfaces (between programme scopes) to ensure a coordinated approach to design and delivery.
• Manage early engagement with stakeholders to identify obsolescence issues and other risks to replication.
• Manage the technical elements of the procurement process for specific contracts
• Ensure that lessons-learnt and knowledge-capture are practiced as business as usual
• Develop and manage plans in line with the overall project Definition Document (PjDD)
• Manage the work scope to be delivered within the contract or package of work and the interfaces to the other elements of the programme.
• Drive the delivery of the contract or package activities to ensure they are delivered safely on time, to budget, meeting business & technical requirements
• Ensure that contract or package contractual requirements are fulfilled through effective contract administration, including (not limited to) Early Warning Notices, Compensation Events, Instructions
• Working with multidisciplinary teams to prepare manufacturing, design and construction contracts
• Driving the implementation of site-specific design changes and management of construction led changes through the change process.
• Ensure compliance with the Assurance strategy and early escalation of issues.
• Adhere to all governance requirements.
• Be the Point of Contact for Risk and opportunity Management within your designated area/contract, while driving best practices.Adhere to all nuclear and environment responsibilities as delegated from the Senior Project Manager.

Knowledge, Skills, Qualifications & Experience
Essential:
• Demonstrate success coordinating multi-disciplinary design/procurement work and driving design/procurement teams to deliver on time
• Project management or relevant project / project engineering experience, from concept to handover
• Experience working in large infrastructure projects
• Good understanding of the complexity of major projects, including interface management between scope areas
• Experience of the pre-tender and tender stages of procuring contracts for the design, manufacturing and/or installation of industrial equipment
• Excellent communication skills in client-facing and contractor-facing situations
• Manage engineers, consultants and other advisors throughout large and complex projects
• Demonstrate specific success in managing / developing:
• Engineering design, contract and field execution strategies for project delivery,
• Multi-discipline EPCM projects,
• Procurement and management of complex contracts,
• Control of costs risk schedule and change and proficient in the use of Earned Value tools,
• Close out of commercial claims and the associated negotiations.

Desirable:
• Previous engineering or project management experience in the nuclear industry.
• Formal project management qualification.
• Direct experience of contracts for nuclear power stations
