Configuration Manager

We are currently looking for a Senior Configuration Management Engineer for our client.. This will be on an ad-hoc basis. Hours will typically be part time and as required.

The work will be on a variety of Nuclear projects around the UK. The work can be based from home with occasional site visits.

Requirements:
Applies Engineering concepts and theories to deliver the development designs, calculations and technical solutions across a range of applications for Babcock products and services across the Engineering Product Lifecycle.
An experienced Engineer, directly accountable for designs, calculations and technical solutions.
Able to work under own initiative to produce high quality outputs.
Capable of managing others and/or delivery of engineering and technical activities, through the application of process, domain knowledge and experience.
Can apply a wider range of knowledge to complex situations.
Provides mentoring to others.

Description
The Engineering role family includes roles focused on designing, developing, and maintaining products, systems, and structures in operations, production, construction or maintenance environments. This family includes roles such as mechanical engineers, electrical engineers, civil engineers, and software engineers, among others.

Roles in this family are responsible for designing and scaling up manufacturing processes, instruments and equipment, testing manufactured products to maintain quality as well as planning, designing, estimating time and cost and overseeing construction and maintenance of facilities, systems and components.

The Engineering role family plays a critical role in driving innovation and improving the effectiveness and efficiency of products and processes. By applying their technical expertise and knowledge, individuals in these roles help to develop and improve products and systems that are safe, reliable, and cost-effective, and that meet the needs of the organisation and its stakeholders.

Configuration Management is a role discipline which focusses on designing, implementing and monitoring configuration management systems and processes to establish and maintain consistency and accuracy of a product’s or service’s performance, functional, and physical attributes against its requirements, design and operational information.

Requires a university degree or equivalent work experience that provides knowledge of and exposure to fundamental theories, principles and practices. Typically recognised by an industry/professional body.

Requires in-depth knowledge and experience in order to solve complex problems with minimal guidance. May be required to take a new perspective on existing solutions based on best practices and knowledge of internal and external business issues, and exercise judgement based on the analysis of multiple sources of information. Will impact across own team and closely related teams across a range of customer, operational or service activities. May act as a resource for colleagues with less experience, and is expected to explain complex, difficult and/or sensitive information.
