Production Planner - Supply Chain
Morson are recruiting on behalf of a leading aerospace and defence manufacturers based in Hilsea Portsmouth. This is a 3 month contract initially although highly likely to be long term.
Pay rate:
£220.00 per hour PAYE Day rate PLUS 31.99 per Day Holiday pay.
Working hours:
Standard working hours are an average of 37 per week in line with 9 day fortnight 33 hours in short week & 41 hours in a long week (every 2nd Friday off)

Job Purpose:
The Production Planner is responsible for ensuring the efficient scheduling and
coordination of production activities within the aerospace manufacturing facility. This role
involves balancing demand, capacity, and material availability to achieve on-time delivery
while maintaining optimal inventory levels. The Production Planner will work closely with
production, supply chain, and engineering teams to drive efficiency and ensure
compliance with aerospace quality standards.
Key Responsibilities:
• Develop and maintain production schedules to ensure timely delivery of aerospace
products.
• Monitor work orders, material availability, and capacity constraints to optimise
production flow.
• Collaborate with procurement, engineering, and operations teams to manage lead
times and production priorities.
• Analyse and report on production performance, identifying potential bottlenecks
and recommending solutions.
• Ensure compliance with AS9100, ISO 9001, and other aerospace industry quality
standards.
• Utilise MRP/ERP systems to plan and track production activities efficiently.
• Coordinate with logistics and shipping teams to meet customer delivery
expectations.
• Support continuous improvement initiatives to enhance planning accuracy and
operational efficiency.
• Maintain accurate documentation of production plans, capacity plans, and
inventory reports.
Key Skills & Experience:
• Minimum 3 years’ experience in production planning within an aerospace or
precision engineering environment.
• Strong knowledge of MRP/ERP systems for production planning (e.g., SAP, Oracle, or
similar).
• Experience in lean manufacturing, Just-in-Time (JIT), and supply chain optimisation.
• Understanding of capacity planning, inventory control, and scheduling techniques.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management abilities.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel.
Additional Requirements:
• Must be eligible to work in the UK.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-tech manufacturing environment.
• Occasional travel may be required to liaise with suppliers and customers.
