CNC Maintenance Engineer

GKN Aerospace have a requirement for a Multi Skilled Maintenance Engineer to work on an initial 12 month contract, potential for permanent contract.

Job Description

Operate as a Multi-skilled Maintenance Engineer working as part of a team to achieve maximum effectiveness and efficiency of machine tool/plant breakdown repairs, calibration, planned scheduled maintenance and all associated tasks, within the maintenance function.

Core responsibilities:

1. Scheduled and breakdown maintenance on both conventional and CNC machine tools and plant.

2. Machine tool/Plant
Maintaining machine tool axes including linear guides / rails, motors, gearboxes, lead screws, bearings.
Maintaining machine guarding both internally and externally
Maintaining hydraulic and pneumatic systems including counter balance circuits, hydraulic
clamping, hydraulic motors, rams, cylinders
Checking and topping up various oils
Fault finding & diagnostics on complex Machine tools/plant
Diagnosing faults on rails, gearboxes etc

3. Machine alignments
Checking and correction of machine alignments, by clocking bars, datum holes and slip gauges, laser alignments, ball bar tests
Correction by changing parameters in CNC. control, testing with machine cuts/machine cycles

4. Plant
Maintaining associated plant such as swarf conveyors, coolant systems, centrifuges, cranes, presses, ovens, pipe benders etc

5. Electrical appreciation
Knowledge of machine tools electrically
Knowledge of machine parameters and diagnostics
Running calibration programs
Disconnecting pumps & motors
Resetting trip & fuses

6. Flexibility
Practice lower level skills underpinning maintenance activities. Including cleaning, driving, rigging, slinging & assisting with out of trade activity.
Work with sub contractors when required
Demonstrate improvements to plant reliability and availability
Inputting of job records using electronic data collection (CONCEPT).

7. Export Control Requirements
Champion ‘Export Control’ compliance activities, ensuring you and where applicable, members of your team, adhere to the site ‘Technology Control Plan (TCP)’, guaranteeing compliance with Export
Control Regulations, controls, training and systems.

8. PERFORMANCE REQUIREMENTS
Compliance with all risk assessments and company Environment, Health & Safety Procedures relevant to all work activities
Reporting of all incidents, accidents and near misses as per the company’s procedure and implementation of identified corrective actions
Maintain good standards of housekeeping in designated work area(s)

Shift/Hours

3 on 4 off nights (every other saturday required) - £28.08 per hour /Overtime at £32.15 per hour.
