Our client, a key contractor within Construction Fire Protection is looking for a Contracts Manager to oversee the installation of passive fire protection systems (FIRAS certified). The role will be based across Birmingham, Leicestershire and Warwickshire with the opportunity to travel to projects further afield, and the position will involve managing contracts from initiation to completion, ensuring compliance with all legal and safety standards whilst meeting client expectations.
You will be working on small, medium and large scale construction projects, including retrofits, and will be responsible for managing works such as penetration sealing, fire protection to structural steelwork, acoustic barriers, air sealing, cavity barriers installation, and fire door installation and maintenance. The successful candidate will have a proven track record in managing fire-stopping, fire-resistant materials, and compartmentation projects across multiple schemes.
Duties will include but are not limited to:
- Manage and coordinate passive fire protection projects from contract award to completion.
- Ensure compliance with regulations such as BS 476/BS EN 1366, ASFP guidance
- Oversee site teams and subcontractors, ensuring high standards of workmanship and safety.
- Overall responsible for documentation including RAMS, QA, site diaries, and handover packs.
- Liaise with clients, site personnel, and surveyors to ensure smooth project delivery.
- Maintain accurate project tracking including cost control, progress reporting, and variation management.
- Support the commercial and estimating teams with pricing and tender submissions.
Applicable candidates will have:
- Proven experience managing passive fire protection contracts.
- Strong understanding of fire-stopping systems, fire doors, and compartmentation.
- Knowledge of BS 476/BS EN 1366, ASFP guidance and FIRAS certifications.
- Up-to-date knowledge of PFP legislation and best practices.
- SMSTS, CSCS Card and other relevant industry certifications are desirable.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and client-facing skills.
- Strong organisation, planning and delivery experience.
