Project Planner

Morson is delighted to be working in partnership with a market leading Aerospace & Defence organisation to recruit a Project Planner for an initial 6 Month contract. There is a rate of £400-£450 Per Day Umbrella on offer for the successful candidate.  There would be a hybrid working arrangement on offer with 2 days a week spent working onsite in Telford and 3 days a week working form home.

Initially on a 6 month contract, the individual will operate one or more of the Planning, Monitoring and Controlling (PM&C) processes on an associated programme.

This is a demanding role, requiring close liaison between various teams within the Programme. The role requires a high level of attention to detail and personal accountability in order to ensure that the project is successful.

Significant drive and energy, strong planning skills, and the ability to deliver a diverse programme to demanding time, target cost and quality requirements are essential attributes to succeed. At this level the incumbent will be expected to work independently on routine aspects of the activity, and under guidance and supervision in more complex situations.

Position Duties and Responsibilities

This individual will be assigned to support the Lead Planner and the Project Controls Manager. They will be required to develop, update and maintain a integrated programme schedule from multiple subordinate plans

Responsibilites will also include:

- Assist with the generation of L0 & L1 Plans
- Generation and maintenance of L4 Project Schedules within the programme, working with Engineering Leads, Control Account Managers and Project Managers
- Develop and maintain detailed, resource loaded schedules for complex programme using MS Project
- Support programme planning activities including critical path analysis, progress tracking and forecasting
- Monitor key milestones and deliverables ensuring alignment with project objectives
- Support the Lead Planner & PCM in CAM reviews
- Facilitate planning reviews and workshops with project stakeholders
- Working with cross functional teams to identify schedule risks and opportunities and recommend corrective actions
- Provide supporting information for internal and external reports
- Perform analysis and monitoring of demand for the programme and ensure alignment to the priorities of the programme, monitoring metrics and generating reports as required
- Provides input to delivery programme baselines and contributes to the operation of project control processes (requirements capture, planning, cost, risk, trend analysis, dependency management and change control)
- Ensure all project documentation is maintained to the required standards within the management system

Required Experience

- Extensive programme planning experience
- Proven experience as a planner/scheduler on a large scale, complex programme 
- Advanced level of proficiency with MS Project or other planning tools 
- Good understanding of one or more PM&C tools techniques and practices
- Ideally having or working towards an APM PMQ or equivalent qualification
- Good presentation skills (verbal and written),
- Good understanding and experience of schedule management toolsets (MS Project or other industry standard planning tools), cost/ERP systems
- Good understanding of risk management principles
- Ability to work cross-functionally
- Good attention to detail
- Confidence to challenge and question their peers when needed
- A good understanding of the challenges of complex engineering projects or defence programmes
- Intermediate knowledge and experience of using SAP preferred
