Project Planner

Morson Talent are currently recruiting for a Planner to work on the behalf of one of our prestigious clients based in Yeovil. This is a contract role until December 2024, with possibility of extension.

Design and maintain the project schedule in accordance planning and control processes and contract requirements, ensuring the integrity of the planning outputs throughout the project life cycle through direct liaison with all key stakeholders. Prepare required reports to support schedule and cost control, identifying issues and potential solutions with key stakeholders/ IPT Lead to establish corrective actions.

KEY JOB ACCOUNTABILITIES

• Executing all activities in accordance with Leonardo policy, procedure and processes.
• Develop and implement the programme or project schedule (and SAP Work Breakdown Structure (WBS)) in accordance with the Contracted scope, delivery dates, Responsibility Assignment Matrix (RAM), financial baseline. If multiple sub projects exist, coordinate, control and integrate the interfaces creating logical links and maintaining updates, applying earned value techniques where applicable.
• Maintain and control the programme or project schedule baseline (dates and budgets) to reflect any contracted amendments. Manage the approval and communication of these changes in accordance with Leonardo procedures.
• Direct the timely processing of schedule updates. Monitor the accuracy of project schedules and version control changes. Work with the key stakeholders/IPT leads to drive the quality of the programme or project schedule. Identify problems and provide support to improve processes to ensure the integrity of the data.
• Engage with cost centre managers to manage tasks and Function specific milestones used to measure Function performance.
• Monitor SAP work packages and planning packages to ensure all have proper baselines, have up to date forecast dates for start and finish of the task and that the budgets and EACs are correct. Ensure tasks are opened and closed on time and ensure planning packages are broken out as and when required.
• Assess progress, track and analyse the impact of the programme or project schedule forecast changes (dates and budgets) to identify threats at the earliest opportunity. Publish the schedule and ensure stakeholders are informed about changes. Perform critical path and ‘what if; analysis, including the development of work-around plans, capturing, monitoring and driving associated actions.
• Update the plans identifying where contingency reserve has been utilised and inform the risk team when loaded into SAP (PMO function).
• Track, analyse and produce reports to confirm the programme or project cost and schedule performance, coordinating variance analysis and driving corrective actions (including resource analysis).
• Prepare and present monthly CPR data. Be able to articulate changes from month to month and what schedule and costs impacts this will incur working closely with the functional departments to ensure accuracy.
• Raise Baseline Change Requests (BCR’s) for any contract changes that are introduced into the Level 2 schedules and ensure that tasks are planned and forecast in accordance with company guidelines.
• Work to develop and continuously improve the planning and reporting processes within the business to ensure best practice.
• Generate purchase requisitions and perform receipts ensuring alignment to schedule procurement requirements.
• Attend monthly meetings for associated project(s) to ensure understanding of overall progress and developments.
• Flexibility to deploy in other areas.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND EXPERIENCE

• Good knowledge of company products and organisation.

• Good written and verbal communication skills.

• Ability to work effectively within a team setting and to provide leadership when required.

• Effective & persuasive in building a network of contacts within LH, creating strong relationships with the LH performing functional areas.

• Proficient in the use of SAP and Microsoft Project (as core planning tool) and other common Microsoft packages.

• Excellent analytical and planning skills with good attention to detail.

• Ability to learn quickly and work under pressure in a fast-paced environment.

• Ability to maintain a clear focus on goals & priorities.

• Excellent organisational and time management skills.

• Experienced in the planning and scheduling of complex tasks within an aerospace or similar industrial environment.

Inside IR35, 37 hours p/w.
