Location: Barrow, Cumbria (3 or 4 days per week onsite)
Rates: £60 ph PAYE (£68.72 ph Inclusive of holiday pay) OR £81.05 ph Umbrella

Are you a Systems Test Engineer looking for a unique and innovative role? We currently have a number of pivotal Test Engineering opportunities available, to design and set to work a host of SIM/STIM test rig capabilities at various locations for the Integration, Verification & Validation (IV&V) of complex control systems and technologies to provide our military services with competitive advantage.

As a Systems Test Engineer you will be part of a team that are responsible for the design, build, commissioning and operation of multiple testing capabilities and facilities. These capabilities will prove the operation and performance of systems that control submarine platform manoeuvrability. The role will involve developing and delivering a demanding test and acceptance schedule, covering all aspects from test authoring to building and fault finding on complex test rig capabilities.

Key Responsibilities
• Design, development, installation and operation of a host of SIM/STIM test capabilities to execute the IV&V strategy for AVC.
• Generation and compilation of test scripts, documents and reports.
• Fault diagnosis and assessment of complex systems within various SIM/STIM test rig capabilities.
• Executing test scenarios in accordance with a developed test programme on various SIM/STIM capabilities.
• Compiling appropriate operational test procedures to satisfy system test plans.
• Supporting the system design and maintenance of test infrastructure and hardware, including test documentation, for the various test capabilities and facilities.
• Define and undertake system integration, test planning and test execution.
• Maintaining a safe operating environment and adherence to internal process and procedures.
• Line Management of test engineers.

Key Skillset
• Technical background within a complex engineering industry and environment
• Experience of system integration, test and acceptance
• Experience working within SIM/STIM environments
• Experience in compiling test scripts
• Awareness of Defence Standards and Industry standards for example Def Stan 00-56, Def Stan 00-55, IEC 61508 / 61511, ARP 4754, DO-178C / DO-254
• Awareness of Mathworks toolsets, particularly in the development of control system models
• Experience of Acceptance testing and accreditation of safety critical systems
• Knowledge of Systems Engineering, Requirements Management, Engineering Life Cycle and Quality Assurance
