Preston, Lancashire, England

SIMULATION & MODELLING ENGINEER – CONTRACT 12 MONTHS – WARTON Nr Preston in Lancashire

The role is for a Modelling and Simulation (M&S) Engineer working within the Flight Sciences Future Aircraft Fuel System Team. The successful applicant will be required to work alongside other System Engineers, applying working knowledge of 1-D fluid flow M&S to aid development of fuel systems from the early system concept phase through to detailed design and into aircraft testing across three different aircraft programmes. Typically, this would include use of toolsets such as Mathworks Simscape, Siemens AMESIM or Flomaster.

The role requires a seasoned individual who has applied M&S to either military or civil aircraft fuel systems however, M&S knowledge applied to products in related sectors will also be considered.

  • Development of system qualification plans and model management plans. The team will provide support to the creation of these plans when needed.
  • Development and maintenance of existing fuel system models but also creation of new models, where required. Support to the creation of a series of system qualification plans including strategies for validating models using aircraft test data.

This is a hybrid role, with a period of ‘onsite’ working alongside the team at the Warton site in Lancashire. 1-2 days per week or grouped together e.g. 1 week per month is required. In addition, the successful applicant will be required to support meetings, as required, remotely using the Skype tool.

WHAT WE NEED FROM YOU ESSENTIAL SKILLS

  • Strong 1-D fluid flow M&S skills using toolsets including AMESIM, Flomaster or Simscape.
  • Abilit to support multiple different aircraft programmes, the individual shall be flexible in adapting to changing priorities and possess strong organisational and time management skills.

DESIRABLES

  • Modelling control algorithms in toolsets such as Mathworks Simulink would be advantageous, but not essential. Knowledge of Jira and Confluence for monitoring of task progress is also desirable but can be taught if needed.
