We are thrilled to announce that Morson Group has retained the coveted Ministry of Defence (MoD) Employer Recognition Scheme Gold Award for support of the ex-forces from 2017.

Morson retains Ministry of Defence Gold Award for ex-forces employment

Representing the MoD’s highest badge of honour in this area, the Employer Recognition Scheme Gold Award identifies businesses that employ and support those who serve, veterans and their families. Morson Group was first presented with the award in 2017 and, through the tireless work of our Morson Forces division, has successfully retained Gold status for 2022. Recipients must reapply after 5 years to ensure that standards are maintained and we are proud to demonstrate our continued commitment to the Armed Forces community.

Minister for Defence People Leo Docherty said:

Regardless of size, location or sector, employing members of the Armed Forces community is good for businesses. These awards recognise the outstanding support for our Armed Forces from employers across the UK and I would like to thank and congratulate each and every one.”

More than 150 organisations have been recognised this year by the UK Government. The Employer Recognition Scheme (ERS) was launched in 2014 and through a 3-tier approach of bronze, silver and gold awards, the scheme recognises the different levels of commitment provided by employers. The ERS enables the Ministry of Defence to publicly thank and honour those organisations for their support. Since then, the awards have grown in strength reaching a current total of 643 award holders.

“We were incredibly proud to receive this award the first time around, but to have it revalidated is an even greater honour. It demonstrates that we are continually going above and beyond our covenant pledge and showcases that our work, supporting the ex-forces community into civilian careers across the UK, is making a true impact. I’d like to praise the work of the Morson Forces team and internal champions, in particular, our Morson Forces Ambassador, veteran Andy Reid, who plays an integral role in continuously serving the forces community. We’ve been lucky to have the support of people like Kristina Carrington (East Anglia RFCA), who has helped us throughout our journey from Bronze through to Gold and onwards to our revalidation” Jon Moon, Head of Operations - Morson Technical Services

Morson Forces, is our dedicated recruitment arm focused on securing skilled employment for ex-forces personnel, their spouses and partners, and supporting their transition into civilian life. Currently, Morson Forces have more than 2,500 ex-military contract and permanent staff from the Royal Navy, Army and RAF, working across a variety of client projects in the UK and overseas. We work closely with the British Forces Resettlement Service (BFRS) and Careers Transition Partnership (CTP), to transition ex-military individuals back into employment and ensure smooth recruitment journeys. We attend numerous annual events to build a network of experienced and highly skilled candidates, encouraging them to consider alternative roles after they have left post.

“This award is about so much more than just the work that Morson Forces does in helping service leaders into civilian roles. It’s about advocacy, Morson passing the baton to our clients by encouraging them to sign the Armed Forces Covenant. Recently, we’ve supported Legal and General Modular Homes to join the covenant. What organisations sometimes don’t recognise is the wealth of skills and talent that exist within the ex-forces community, it’s virtually an untapped pool. Many service leavers possess key power and practical skills such as leadership, punctuality, organisation and working in safety-critical environments as well as multi-skilled, professional accreditation and qualifications. The Royal Navy doesn’t just sail ships, the Army doesn’t just fire weapons and the RAF doesn’t just fly planes. They can be surgeons, dentists, cartographers, HR and payroll teams, logisticians, drivers, vehicle mechanics, aircraft engineers, security, IT, cyberspace communications, radar, telecoms, chefs, aircrew, firefighter, the list goes on…” - Pat McMullan, Account Manager, Armed Forces Covenant Ambassador.

Morson Group is proud to be recognised among the list of 156 recipients, alongside Morgan Stanley, IBM, Guy’s and St Thomas’ NHS Foundation Trust, Admiral Group and Groundwork.

At Morson, we are committed to supporting ex-forces personnel into civilian jobs and beyond. If you’re a service leaver looking for your next role or an organisation interested in finding how service leavers can contribute to your business, visit Morson Forces to find out more.
