Senior Quantity Surveyor required to work on a confidential defence construction project near Reading. Individuals must be able to commit to being on site 4 days per week given the nature of the project.
DV clearance required (Sole UK National)

The Role
Working within the PDP-S Framework supportingdelivery for the Ministry of Defence, we are currently recruiting for anexperienced and flexible Quantity Surveyor to work on a long-terminfrastructure programme. The programme is working within an NEC 4environment and the requirements necessary to support successful delivery arealigned to this. The individual will be an integral part of amulti-functional team that is accountable for the commercial and contractualgovernance of a £multi-million defence infrastructure programme.
Key responsibilities will include:
-Must be able to work collaboratively with appointed external consultantsproviding assurance on cost and financial deliverables
-Support the authority in developing underpinning business case evidence
-Producing cost reports, cash flows and cost forecasting
-Support contractors in keeping everything transparent and data-driven, holdingthem to account for the integrity of cost and commercial data provided
-Support key decision-making with data-driven cost management insights
-Identify cost-saving strategies and optimize contract performance
-Attending progress meetings and monthly cost meetings
-Support public sector objectives of delivering value for money in allcircumstances
-Support contractors and CS to develop early ideas into feasible strategies andassociated plans
-Validating the provenance of cost data to support public sector audit andassurance requirements
-Ensuring change control is managed on behalf of the client in accordance withcontracts
-Promote commercial awareness throughout the programme
-Support formal dispute resolution process and contract close out strategy asrequired
-Scrutinise and assess commercial contracts, procurement, and negotiations in anNEC environment
Personal Attributes:
-Proven expertise in quantity surveying on large-scale infrastructure projectand procurement, and / or estimating experience desirable
-Experience of working with NEC contracts and civils infrastructure costestimating
-Ability to constructively challenge contractor cost estimates and willingnessto look beneath the figures required
-Demonstratable understanding of the inter-relationship between estimating,costing, risk and schedule
-Ability to engage effectively with stakeholders at all levels and acrossdisciplines, even when facing challenge
-Comfortable working at pace within a demanding environment
-Good communicator able to convey complex financial information to non financeprofessionals
-Able to operate autonomously, with authority, skilled in developing andbuilding relationships
-Willingness to travel to London site 2-3 days per week
Expected Qualifications:
-BSc Quantity Surveying / Construction Management and RICS / CIOB preferred
-10 years experience working on £multi-million complex infrastructure projects.
