Operational Development Engineer

We are recruiting for Operational Development Engineer (Technical Spares Review) for our Client at HPC on a long-term contract.

The successful individual will be required to work within a team to deliver the approved spares strategies for all systems across Site.

This will include technical analysis, optimisation, selection, approval, and procurement of strategic and non-strategic spare parts. The role also will involve consulting with a wide range of stakeholders and monitoring spend against a budget.

Nature and Scope

The role of Operational Development Engineer sits within the Spares Engineering Team, which is part of Spares and Procurement Engineering Team.

The Spares and Procurement Engineering Team is part of the Pre-Operations Engineering Programme. The Engineering Programme covers key operational engineering activities, including Equipment Reliability, Surveillance Programmes, Spares and Procurement Engineering, Fuel Route, and Outage Management

Principal Accountabilities

• Manage issue resolution for the timely production of spares strategies.

• Help maintain the process documentation for the spares team end to end project processes.

• Conduct technical analysis of plant components and equipment.

• Conduct optimisation of spare part lists.

• Conduct joint analysis with project teams.

• Manage supplier’s spare parts recommendations for quality, completeness and availability.

• Track progress of reviews against KPI’s.

• Present analysis of spares to the Joint Management Spares Team for approval.

• Engage with commercial team to negotiate better arrangements with suppliers.

Knowledge, Skills, Qualifications, Experience

• Excellent communication skills.

• Experience of spares optimisation.

• Understanding of inventory management and procurement processes.

• Ability to read technical drawings.

• Experience of Enterprise Asset Management systems.

• Be able to develop and follow procedures.

• Able to develop work plans and deliver them safely and efficiently.

• Have experience of working in a project environment.

• Experience of dealing with a wide range of suppliers and customers (UK based and international).

• Excellent Report (Technical Business Cases) Writing Skills

• HNC/HND/Degree in an Engineering or Science discipline.
