Crane Operators – BAE Systems (Barrow-in-Furness)
Location: Barrow-in-Furness, Cumbria
Job Type: 12 Month Contract

We are looking for skilled and safety-conscious Crane Operators to join our growing team for BAE Systems site in Barrow-in-Furness – home of the UK’s submarine design and build capability.

About the Role:
As a Crane Operator, you will play a vital role in the safe and efficient movement of heavy and high-value components during the construction of next-generation submarines. Working as part of a highly experienced logistics and operations team, you will help ensure that our build and assembly processes remain precise and uninterrupted.

Key Responsibilities:
Operate overhead gantry cranes, mobile cranes, and other lifting equipment in accordance with site safety procedures and lifting plans.

Handle and move large structural sections, machinery, and classified equipment with care and accuracy.

Perform daily equipment checks and report faults or maintenance needs promptly.

Work collaboratively with riggers, slingers, and supervisory teams to coordinate complex lifts.

Follow strict health, safety, and environmental regulations, contributing to a culture of zero harm.

Essential Criteria:
NVQ Level 3 or equivalent in Lifting Operations (or demonstrable relevant experience).

Valid CPCS or NPORS certification for crane operation.

Proven experience operating cranes in an industrial or construction environment.

Strong understanding of lifting operations and safety protocols.

Desirable:
Experience in a marine, shipbuilding, or defence environment.

Additional certifications in slinging/signalling or other plant operation.
