Role Title – Solution Architect – Engineering Applications

Salary - £60,000 - £80,000 p/a

Location – Warrington, Derby or Manchester

We are now recruiting for the exciting role of Solution Architect – Engineering Applications, to be involved in a ground breaking programme to be a part of deploying Small Modular Reactors across the UK and potentially across the globe!

Job Purpose

Rolls-Royce SMR have several IT Technology projects for delivery to support the growth of the business.  Working together with Business Process Leads either from within the IT team, Engineering or from the supply chain.  It will support the definition and realisation of the strategic Engineering Systems Product roadmap, that will be delivered over the lifecycle of the SMR programme.

  • As an Engineering Solution Architect you will deliver the Engineering Systems Enterprise Architect roadmap. 
  • You will be responsible for the defining solutions to business problems and ensuring there implementation. 
  • You will solve problems and make disciplined design decisions based on available information.

Key Results & What can be achieved in the role

  • 6mths – Help evolve the SMR IT team into an organisation that puts user experience first, exceeds delivery commitments and is centre for digital excellence.
  • 1yr – Deliver IT solutions that support SMR achieving GDA Step 3 approval.

Key Selection Criteria

  • Experienced in resolving day to day issues with COTS, SAAS & Licensing applications.
  • Ability to liaise with 3rd party vendors to raise, track and resolve issues.
  • Assist in the training and support of users.
  • Experienced in Database, Custom Web, Low-Code & No Code Applications with strong Requirements Gathering, Solution Design, Functional and implementation knowledge.
  • Experience in creating, reviewing and approving High Level Designs, Low Level Designs, deployment guides and build specifications.
  • Experience in the packaging, testing and deployment of solutions to both Windows Client & Azure Environments.
  • Experienced with licensing, deployment.
  • Ability to plan and manage application updates and bug fixes.
  • TOGAF® 9 Foundation or equivalent

Pay and Benefits 

We anticipate paying a salary of between £60K-£80K, plus:- 

  • Bonus - Performance related bonus of up to 12.5% bonus 
  • Benefits Allowance – £2,200 cash allowance, 28 days holiday plus bank holidays on top, enabling you to create a bespoke package  
  • Pension - 12% employer and 6% employee contributions.
