Location: Devonport Dockyard, Plymouth (3 days per week on-site)

Role Overview:
We are seeking a knowledgeable and detail-oriented Resident Engineer with a strong background in civil or structural engineering to support installation and commissioning activities on-site at Devonport Dockyard. This role is ideal for someone with a consultancy background, particularly those who have been involved in high-safety-consequence environments.
Key Responsibilities:
Oversee and supervise the installation and commissioning of civil/structural works
Act as the technical interface between design and site teams
Peer review and validate design calculations and technical submissions
Ensure works are carried out to specification, standards, and safety protocols
Liaise with multiple stakeholders including contractors, designers, and project managers
Provide engineering oversight and support to ensure project integrity and compliance
Required Skills & Experience:
Degree or equivalent qualification in Civil or Structural Engineering
Background in consultancy or engineering design, particularly with experience reviewing technical documentation
Experience in high-safety-consequence environments such as railways, bridges, heavy civils, or concrete structures
Strong communication and stakeholder management skills
Ability to work independently on-site 3 days per week in Devonport
Desirable:
Chartered or working toward Chartered Engineer status
Previous experience in nuclear, defence, or similarly regulated industries
