We are currently looking for a Principal/Senior Ecologist for our client to work on a temporary basis for 3-6 months.
This can be either on a part time or full time basis.
The work can be carried out in a number of their office locations including Bristol, Cardiff or Manchester. There can also be working from home options.
The role will include organising a team of Ecologists and preparing EIA.
Manages complex sites/large developments/multi-species mitigation projects.
? To take on a key role within the business unit, winning work, providing technical advice,
leadership and training, and leading by example where appropriate.
? Commissioning/leading ecological field work overseeing ecological aspects of site work.
? Providing technical advice on ecological issues (at an in-depth level within own area of
expertise, but also on a broad range of issues) within and between sectors.
? Producing and/or technically reviewing survey reports, Ecological Impact Assessments,
Environmental Statement chapters, licence applications, management plans, advice notes,
biodiversity strategies and other similar documents.
? Liaising with statutory and non-statutory consultees and attending client meetings.
and understanding of ecological principles, taxonomy and classification.
? Can design and carry out complex and/or multi-disciplinary ecological surveys (within their
chosen field of specialism), and provide direction and advice to others on survey design.
? Can identify a range of common and less common taxa/species associated with all habitat
types within chosen specialist field.
? In-depth knowledge of particular habitats, plant and/or animal groups (including appropriate
field survey skills, mitigation and management techniques) and/or has a broad knowledge
relating to common and less common taxa/species.
? Considerable UK Hab habitat survey and/or protected species survey experience.
? Carries out complex site-supervision work for tasks a?ecting ecological receptors.
? Determines design parameters and approves detailed specifications to contribute to
sustainable environmental design for biodiversity benefit.
? Undertakes/produces large-scale ecological appraisals in line with good practice guidelines.
? Fully understands and applies national, European and International environmental legislation,
policy and guidance for a range of fields, and in complex scenarios.
? Managed formal stakeholder consultation exercises, including those involving conflict.
