Systems Development Engineer

Our client is seeking a Systems Engineer to join their MIDAS Development Team. Working in this role the successful applicant will work as part of the Systems Development Team to design and develop the architecture and specification of the MIDAS Mission Management system for the next generation of military platforms. This will involve the use of model based system design techniques to develop the overall architecture including the definition of the MIDAS Architecture, the functional components and developing the system specifications.

To achieve these tasks both the UML and SysML notations will be used, knowledge of which would be beneficial, however training can be provided as needed.

The successful applicant will also have the opportunity to assist in the development of Agile processes used in the team, gain exposure to both safety and security related work and collaborate with other teams across the wider Mission Systems & Software business.

This role is UK-based in the North West of England but as a Hybrid worker some of your time may be based from home with regular working from our home base of Warton site. You may also be asked to support the Customers or our Industry Partners at one of their sites across the UK.

Key Responsibilities:

As a member of the MIDAS System Development team, you will be responsible for the development of the MIDAS systems architecture and components for the core MIDAS product and its exploitations. Main responsibilities include:

• Develop and mature the MIDAS architecture
• Analyse and generate model elements that support the maturation of the MIDAS architecture and its components.
• Supervision and support to junior team members.
• Assist with the creation of Engineering documents that form part of the MIDAS product and its exploitations.
• Respond to both internal and external customer queries regarding the MIDAS architecture

Key Attributes:

• Ability using Cameo MBSE tool or similar is preferable.
• Working knowledge of UML / SysML.
• Specific / general Mission System domain knowledge would be advantageous.
• Proven ability within a Systems and or Software Engineering background.
• A working knowledge of the engineering lifecycle.
• Knowledge and experience in Object Oriented design and Model Based engineering tools and techniques would be advantageous.
• Knowledge of Agile methodology supported by the Atlassian toolset would be advantageous.
