Bid Manager

£500 per day Outside IR35

Morson are currently recruiting for multiple bid managers to work with one of our defence clients in Glasgow. Based within a centralised team you will be lead the end-to-end bid management across multiple concurrent bids of marine defence equipment. We’re looking for experienced bid managers with exposure to Defence, Marine, Aerospace, Nuclear or similar procurement where the MoD is the end customer. You will be required to bring structure, clarity and governance to the process whilst giving rigour to change control, commercial awareness and stakeholder management.

You will be contractually based in Glasgow, but the minimum will be 1 day a month on site, so the roles are mostly remote. We’re offering the roles on an initial 6-month basis, with the possibility of a permanent role after the conclusion of the contract. We can pay a rate of £500 - £550 per day Outside IR35.

Responsibilities:

  • Manage structure, clarity and governance across multiple bids, leading to the creation of a high-quality proposal.
  • Interface with Customers and Suppliers, the capture lead and the Quality Assurance Manager to ensure bids are communicated clearly across all stakeholders.
  • Prepare prequalification response submissions to customers to securing an invitation to bid.
  • Provide bid management direction and engagement with the Bid Team.
  • Ensure that cost estimates are supported by Systems Engineering and Product Management.
  • Review cost estimates to ensure competitive and winning pricing.
  • Prepare effective Gate Business Cases for specific opportunities.

Requirements:

  • A proven track record of delivering successful bids with MoD/Government oversight.
  • Full business lifecycle management, including capture plans, qualification and winning strategies that meet commercial and technical targets.
  • Extensive client and stakeholder management experience.
  • Experience and understanding of the bid life cycle including change control, risk management and information management.
  • Knowledge of commercial management, finance functions.
  • Have a working knowledge of industry standard approaches to bid management.
  • Previous experience successfully managing a bid team and to drive solutions to successful conclusion.
  • Strong negotiation skills with the ability to deal with customers, partners, suppliers and other parts of the business.
  • Written presentation and report writing skills.

Desirable:

  • Knowledge and experience of large / complex defence related bids.
  • Validation and management of bid winning budgets
  • Degree or equivalent qualification in engineering or business related subject.
  • APMP / IPMA accreditation

Recognising the RESTRICTED nature of the work, suitable candidates will need to be SC cleared or eligible for this level of clearance before starting on site
