- Applies a depth and breadth of expertise relating to complex thermal engineering problems, challenges, and issues associated with the area. Designs and develops solutions, resolves engineering issues and problems for a range of situations relating to Thermal. Provides technical guidance to others relating to thermal and may occasionally mentor/coach a team of engineers.
- Requires a depth and breadth of expert knowledge gained through substantial work experience in order to apply principles and concepts in thermal and CFD. Understands business processes and the business environment, extends the knowledge base, provides specialist technical advice and guidance to other professionals. Can work and direct others in stand-alone situations and with little direction.
- Working independently under minimal direction, the holder will typically have several years experience within the business or equivalent industry. Typically of Chartered status (or equivalent).
- Undertakes technical reviews, verifies and signs engineering designs.
- Articulates, defines and documents subject expertise, approaches and standards in order to extend business knowledge base.
- Provides technical direction to engineers.
- Supports the development of individuals and teams to enhance skills and competencies, such that technical capability objectives are fully achieved.
- Assists in the production of estimates, creates and/or assists in the production of design requirement specifications.
- Develops, promotes and shares new technologies for implementation across businesses and programme(s).
- Acts as Engineering, technical or design authority for a product or service.
- Provides technical leadership and guidance on matters relating to a thermal and CFD.
- Experience working in Thermal and/or CFD is strongly preferred.
- Extensive experience in industry specific applications of core engineering concepts and principles. Able to apply experience to new products and services. Assists in the determination and definition of engineering standards as used by others.
- Typically will either have discipline specific knowledge in a sub area applicable to company products and/or formal leadership experience.
- Deep understanding of business approaches and procedures including the standards for governance and compliance.
- Very good understanding, knowledge and experience relevant to a specific engineering system, for example assemblies, systems, platforms and services.
