Manufacturing Engineer
Location: Luton
Contract: 9 months
Rate: PAYE £25.79 per hour + holiday pay
Full-time | On-site | Mon - Thu 7.30am - 4.30pm, 12.30pm finish on Fridays

Morson is currently recruiting a Manufacturing Engineer for a 9-month contract role based in Luton, supporting a key project with our Aerospace & Defence client. You’ll be focused on documenting Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and developing manufacturing processes for complex aerospace components.

This is a hands-on, on-site role—ideal for engineers who enjoy working closely with shop floor operations and turning complex processes into efficient, well-documented procedures.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and document SOPs and standard work practices from scratch

  • Observe, analyse, and improve manufacturing processes, including peel tests and bond test coupons

  • Collaborate with tooling, operations, and engineering teams to define and refine build processes

  • Identify process improvements using Lean and Zero Defect Manufacturing principles

  • Support the introduction of new tools and process changes

Requirements:

  • Degree-qualified in Engineering (Mechanical, Aerospace, Electrical, Chemical) or equivalent experience

  • Minimum 3 years in Manufacturing Engineering

  • Strong communication skills with the ability to explain technical concepts clearly to a variety of stakeholders
  • Experience developing SOPs and process documentation

  • Knowledge of ISO9000, AS9100, or similar quality systems

  • Skilled in manual assembly, line balancing, jigs and fixtures

  • Familiarity with Lean, Six Sigma (Green Belt level or equivalent)

  • Able to work independently and as part of a multi-disciplinary team

Nice to Have:

  • Experience with AS9145 / APQP

  • Background in aerospace composites or transparency products (e.g., glass-based panels)

Please note: Due to the nature of this role in the Aerospace and Defence sector, you will be required to obtain security clearance before starting. To be eligible, you must have resided in the UK for the past 5 years.
