We are currently looking for a Quality Engineer to join our client working on a large construction project in Suffolk.
Your job purpose will be to play a key part in developing and implementing the Quality strategy throughout the project. You’ll be joining the Project Delivery Organisation (PDO), which is an integral part of the project, responsible for managing end-to-end delivery (EPCC: Engineering, Procurement, Construction and Commissioning) of the plant, ensuring projects are delivered safely, to quality, on time and within cost.
Our teams are set up to work flexibly, therefore you don’t have to live in London or the South East. If you’re able to travel to the office to collaborate with your team and stakeholders when required, you can be based anywhere in the UK. We provide a full suite of IT equipment to ensure that our employees can work from home comfortably and effectively.
Principal Accountabilities
As an experienced Quality professional, you’ll work closely with the functions to ensure that project quality is delivered consistently, safely and efficiently.
Typical accountabilities you’ll have will be:
• Supporting Project Managers to deliver their scope of work “right first time”
• Designing, developing and implementing quality strategy for the PDO
• Ensuring Quality objectives are delivered
• Ensuring the overall quality planning and implementation of quality arrangements
• Reporting on the quality performance of Delivery Teams and Supply Chain
• Ensuring that supply chain organisations comply with contract quality requirements
• Ensuring that quality issues are resolved without compromising quality or nuclear safety
• Identifying opportunities for quality improvement, supporting their implementation and making recommendations accordingly

Knowledge & Skills
Essential
• Strong interpersonal skills. Able to engage credibly within and external to the business.
• Solid understanding of the Quality Assurance and Control requirements in major projects across engineering, procurement, manufacturing, construction and commissioning.
• Proven track record on influencing and negotiating in technical and non-technical discussions.
• Knowledge & understanding of the nuclear sector, ideally new build.
• Ability to work autonomously and support the Quality Delivery Manager and Project Manager as part of a multi-disciplinary team.
• Ability to present quality matters and solutions to a wide-ranging audience.
• Expert knowledge of Quality Systems, ISO 9001, ISO 19443, IAEA GSR-2 and interrelated standards such as ISO 14001, ISO 45001, ISO 27001, ISO 44001 etc..
• A strong and credible decision maker, able to create confidence through crafting of strong justifications and arguments.
Qualifications & Experience
Essential
• Degree qualified in an engineering or science related discipline or equivalent
• Experience within the UK regulatory environment
• Nuclear industry, PWR design and new-build experience preferred
• Extensive experience working with supply chains
• IRCA Lead Auditor
Desirable
• Experience and technical knowledge of nuclear safety design and quality management
• Experience of working with Regulators within a dynamic environment.
• Large-scale infrastructure Project experience
• Experience in supervising & managing teams/contract support
• Chartered Quality Professional or working towards membership of the Chartered Quality Institute
• Fluent in the French language
