Radiographer

Morson Talent are on the lookout for a Radiographer with a minimum PCN Level 2 & Advanced Radiation Safety Certificate on behalf of our well-known defence client. Whether you are from a heavy engineering background or lightweight structures, we want to hear from you!

- Monday – Tuesday dayshift (37 hours a week)
- Rates: £30ph PAYE (with Umbrella options available)
- Initial 6 month contract, with long term prospects
- Based in Sheffield

• Competent Quality professional capable of working under their own initiative and providing guidance to more inexperienced members of the Quality department within own capability and skill base areas
• A member of the Quality team who escalates problems where required
• Conduct Quality activities in accordance with the relevant processes and procedures and update where required
• Domain areas include, but are not limited to: Radiography, Welding Inspection, Non Destructive Testing

Core Duties

• Responsible for the radiography of 150mm Ø welds on titanium tube
• Undertake non-routine/complex activities in their related area with minimal supervision
• Able to access, have a clear understanding of and apply the local Management System documentation e.g. policies, procedures, workmanship standards, risk assessments and COSHH assessments and processes and apply in their related area
• Responsible for supporting the Quality Management team in addressing planned tasks
• Responsible for conducting the verification of non-conformances
• Liaise / interface with appropriate areas of the business and build effective relationships
• Utilise calibrated measuring equipment to assess and measure tolerances of the product and record any non-conformances
• Report results of inspections using agreed processes
• The ability to write reports and presentations and support others, ensuring accuracy and clarity of meaning
• Represent the department at local Quality reviews and liaise with the customer when required

Knowledge: 

• Awareness of ISO 9001/ EN9100 standards
• Fully understand and competent with IRR 2017
• Understand how their own role and team fit into overall objectives of the function
• Knowledge of product safety requirements
• Export requirements knowledge (for example International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) 
• Knowledge of the Programme Inspection and Test Plan and how it is implemented
• Understand the importance of cross functional integration
• Understanding of Business Management Systems, Operational Framework and Operational Assurance process
• Good understanding of own discipline and end to end requirements within Non Destructive Testing
•  Export requirements awareness (for example International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR)

Skills:

• The ability to use and train others in the use of technology, and tools applicable to the discipline
• The ability to interpret technical drawings, specifications, procedures, techniques and contract requirements
• The ability to read and interpret weld defects through radiographic and other NDT techniques
• The ability to write radiographic techniques
• Effective stakeholder management

Qualifications: 

• NC or HNC qualified in an appropriate technical discipline or equivalent experience:
• Minimum of PCN Level 2 Radiography (RT) in Welds
• Minimum of RPS PCN Qualification/Advanced Radiation Safety Certification
• Desirable - PCN Level 2 in Dye Pentrant Inspection (PT)
• Desirable - CSWIP 3.1 or PCN level 2 in Welding Inspection (WI)
• Desirable - Trade background - time served in trade discipline
