Our client are part of the UK’s Nuclear Decommissioning Authority, they are public body responsible for ensuring the safe and efficient clean-up of the UK’s nuclear legacy, their work involves a range of activities for safely transporting materials to and from nuclear sites and providing nuclear transport solutions for a range of customers based in the UK and Overseas.

They also provide transport services outside of the nuclear sector, operating a number of intermodal rail services in consumer goods and general freight markets.

We are recruiting for an experienced Head of Health and Safety to join our client on a fixed term contracr basis. They are flexible on location and is looking for someone to be based in the North West 2/3 days per week.

You will be responsible for the leadership, management and development of HSE employees to deliver sustainable and complex transportation solutions. Providing advice, challenge and expertise to ensure performance and compliance in line with business, NDA and Regulator requirements.

Support the Senior Leaders across the client in developing a world leading approach to delivering Health and Safety and support the HSEQ Director in preparing strategies and reporting for the Board, NDA and external stakeholders.

Essential Knowledge, Skills and Experience:

  • Minimum NEBOSH Diploma
  • Recognised professional chartered membership
  • Excellent experience, knowledge and understanding of HSE Legislative Requirements (E)
  • Proven experience and ability of leading, managing and developing a team of professionals (E)
  • Proven experience of engaging effectively with regulators HSE matters and licensing/permit requirements (E)
  • Demonstrable ability to work across and build effective relationships with all key stakeholders across NTS functions, suppliers, regulators and UK & International Government organisations (E)
  • Track record of developing and improving processes, and driving performance (E)
