Structures Engineer

Job Title: Structures Engineer
Location: Bedford, Cambridge or Ipswich (Hybrid)

Salary: £35,000 to £40,000 per annum*

**Base salary negotiable on level / relevant experience**

Overview:
Join our Clients team in the East region as a Structures Engineer. This role focuses on managing priority risk structures through asset need identification and risk management planning. The engineer will be involved in developing treatment options, preliminary design work, and conducting structural reviews and assessments, ensuring compliance with asset policies and standards.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Risk Management: Assist in managing priority risk structures by identifying asset needs and producing/reviewing risk management plans.
  • Survey and Assessment: Lead on identifying, preparing, and supporting the delivery of structures survey works. Monitor the delivery of assessment work, liaising with technical partners or delivery teams for treatment options.
  • Solution Development: Develop early solutions for improvements or renewals, including compiling documents, evidence, and reports for value management.
  • Structural Reviews: Undertake structural reviews and assessments in accordance with CS 451 and DMRB standards.
  • Program Development: Assist in developing the region’s asset-led forward programme and initial scheme development to deliver customer-centric designs and technical specifications.

Requirements:

  • Education: Degree or HND in a relevant discipline with appropriate experience, or equivalent. Working towards professional membership or body.
  • Experience: In structures studies, renewals work design, or structural assessment. Experience working within allocated budgets is desirable.
  • Skills: Strong stakeholder management and communication skills with a customer focus.
  • Knowledge: Familiarity with National Highways standards (DMRB, MCHW, Eurocodes), and CDM 2015.
