Job Title: Quantity Surveyor

Location: Devonport, Plymouth
Rate: Up to £300 per day 
Contract Type: Contract
Start Date: ASAP
Duration: 6–12 months (potential extension)
Working Pattern: Full-time, on-site – 5 days per week

Role Summary:

We are seeking an experienced Quantity Surveyor to support a major construction and infrastructure programme in Devonport. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in the construction industry, ideally within civil or defence infrastructure, and a proven ability to manage costs, contracts, and sub-contractors throughout the project lifecycle.

Key Responsibilities:

• Manage all commercial and contractual aspects of projects

• Prepare cost plans, estimates, and tender documentation

• Conduct value engineering and cost control

• Assess and process applications for payment and variations

• Manage sub-contractor procurement and accounts

• Prepare and negotiate final accounts

• Provide accurate financial reporting and forecasting

• Ensure compliance with relevant contract standards (e.g., NEC)

Requirements:

• Proven experience as a Quantity Surveyor in construction/infrastructure

• Strong understanding of standard forms of contract (NEC preferred)

• Relevant qualification in Quantity Surveying or Construction Management

• Good communication and negotiation skills

• Proficient in cost management tools and MS Excel

• Must be available to work on-site in Devonport 5 days per week
