Location: Huddersfield - 1 day WFH
Working Hours: 37.5 hours/week, Monday to Friday - Choose the hours you work (Core hours 9 am–2:30 pm)
Travel: Occasional domestic travel (up to 5%); no international travel

About the Role
We are seeking a Manufacturing Engineer to join a major player in the Defence sector and play a key role in supporting our production and assembly operations. You’ll be involved in technical problem-solving, process development, and cross-functional collaboration to ensure product quality and operational efficiency.
This is a hands-on engineering role ideal for individuals passionate about precision manufacturing and continuous improvement within a high-integrity sector.
Key Responsibilities
Provide daily technical support to production and assembly teams.
Act as a critical link between design engineering and the shop floor.
Evaluate component manufacturability and tooling/machine suitability.
Participate in design reviews and provide input on production feasibility.
Conduct PFMEAs and support process development.
Interpret and create 2D and 3D manufacturing drawings.
Ensure compliance with Quality Assurance standards.
Drive continuous improvement (CI) initiatives to optimise production.
Design custom tooling and uphold Machinery Safety regulations.
Collaborate with internal departments (design, quality, supply chain) and external partners.
Generate work orders and complete associated technical documentation.
Qualifications
Minimum: Relevant engineering diploma with practical experience in a manufacturing environment.
Preferred: Degree in Mechanical, Manufacturing, or related Engineering field.
Skills & Experience
Technical:
Experience with rotating component manufacture (e.g. turning, milling, boring)
Understanding of mechanical assembly processes
Competence in CNC programming and GD&T principles
Proficient in 2D/3D CAD tools and SAP (for manufacturing)
Strong engineering drawing interpretation and creation skills
