Morson Technical Services are currently seeking a Support Engineer to join the team in the Merlin Depth Facility on a permanent basis.
PURPOSE –
The IMOS MDF Support Engineer is accountable to IMOS Operations Manager, and functionally accountable IMOS Logistics lead, for production schedule delivery adherence and performance throughout MDF using a team of sub-contractor personnel under the day-to-day line management of the IMOS management team engineer. Drawing upon extensive management and technical experience in aircraft maintenance, operations and logistic support, the role is to ensure that IMOS delivers the most efficient and effective Service achievable, satisfying customer and business expectations, whilst also ensuring that operational customer satisfaction, airworthiness assurance and continuous improvement requirements are consistently met.
MAIN ACTIVITIES AND TASKS –
Implementation and Maintenance of Customer Service
- Coordinate the production & output of the integrated Off-Aircraft Overhaul (OAO) elements of MDF in direct support of the IMOS delivery iaw the logistics plan.
- Support the ongoing routine comp check process for all MDF senior supervisors as required.
- To be a key focal point for MDF integrated support & out of scope issues at RNAS Culdrose.
- Hosting and briefing visitors to the MDF when required, illustrating the operation as a showcase for future business opportunities.
- Satisfy the requirements of the Customer, whilst recognising the everyday needs of the business.
- Develop, update and deliver safe and efficient systems of work and process, updating and generating DOPs & LOPs as required, for all elements of work within the roles defined areas of responsibility.
- Provide temporary absence cover for management staff, assist with the delivery of special project tasks, monitor the workshop loading plan and assist Mgrs as required.
Product Management
- Support MDF Production & Logistic delivery teams to meet the aircraft production, workshops output and logistic support plans.
- Directly support the management in the execution of general service delivery, workforce control and reporting tasks.
- The identification and correct use of all equipment and infrastructure needed to achieve the IMOS output required.
- To ensure adherence to all applicable Quality Assurance requirements (part 145 & ISO 9001), Safety standards and procedures.
- Contribute to the production of occurrence reporting and technical feedback to inform continuous improvement in the wider IMOS Community.
- Support the Depth Operations Manager by maintaining oversight of relevant tasking required to support output, reporting any failures and developing alternate ways of working as required to maintain production.
People Management
- Represent the MBSM, and his management team, as/when required taking up alternate tasking as directed to ensure IMOS Service is delivered effectively.
- Monitor the daily tasking & production of IMOS logistics & engineering teams as detailed.
- When required, support the relevant management in personnel selection and recruitment, ensuring that potential employees possess the necessary background, qualifications and experience.
- Identify and pursue the training of personnel in the production support and logistics teams to efficiently conduct required tasking.
- Support, where required, the continued professional development of MDF staff in liaison with the relevant and MS Sub-Contractor Manager.
- Monitor and coordinate, in conjunction with the Company and sub-contractor management, the official absence requests and timekeeping of all sub-contractor staff to minimise impacts on MDF output capacity.
- Monitor and coordinate, in conjunction with the Company and sub-contractor management, training requirements for and sub-contractor staff involved in MDF tasks.
KNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE -
- Educated to a minimum of foundation degree level, OR6 in MOD nomenclature, in a relevant aviation related subject or have completed a recognised aircraft engineering apprenticeship followed by a period of practical relevant experience.
- Comprehensive and detailed knowledge and experience of maintenance operations, supply chain and technical support processes, including practical experience of Forward and Depth operational support.
- Have the relevant management skills and operational experience to coordinate and integrate the efforts of maintenance & logistics teams operating in a Part 145, ISO 9001 and MOD hosted support environment.
- Understanding the engineering criteria and processes underpinning airworthiness, safe operation and cost-effective production.
- Ability to operate and negotiate at a level equivalent to SO3 Service rank (Lt/Flt Lt/Capt).
- Sound negotiation skills with ability to reconcile differences between individual viewpoints and stakeholders’ competing demands to achieve balanced and workable solutions.
- Effective and persuasive written and verbal communication skills.
- Be able to communicate confidently with military officers, civil servants, visitors and company staff at all levels.
