Senior Electrical Design Engineer Bermingham 

I am looking for a Electrical Design engineer to work for a leading defence company based in Birmingham. 

Salary: £50,000 to £55,000 per annum

Employment Type: Full-time, Permanent

We are seeking an experienced Electrical Design Engineer with a background in Control Panels and/or Low Voltage Power Distribution to join a dynamic engineering team. You will play a key role in delivering robust and compliant design solutions aligned with customer and legislative requirements.

Key Requirements:

  • Degree-qualified or equivalent experience with minimum 3 years in relevant electrical design.
  • Proficient in Power & Electrical Design – System design, component selection, control panel layout.
  • Ideally experienced with VSDs, Motor Starter panels, Distribution systems, and PLC systems.
  • Understanding of Testing & Automation, including creating test plans.
  • Familiarity with E-Plan; experience with SolidWorks Electrical is advantageous.
  • Hands-on engineering experience is essential.
  •  

Responsibilities:

  • Prepare technical documentation, test plans, and component selection justifications.
  • Ensure designs meet safety and legislative requirements.
  • Collaborate closely with mechanical design engineers to deliver integrated solutions.
  • Follow the project design lifecycle, ensuring compliance and approvals at all stages.
  •

  • Proactive, team-oriented, and capable of working independently.
  • Control & Instrumentation experience preferred.
  • Training can be provided for the right candidate with alternative CAD experience.
