Morson Talent are currently recruiting for a Welding technician for contracts based in Saudi Arabia.
Job Role
Tests and examines metal fabrications and repairs,performs welding, heat treating and metal surfacing tasks, maintains testing heat treating, welding and metal surfacing equipment, designs and machines,precision tools, parts and assemblies, inspects machine work, and supervises aircraft metals technology processing and shop activities.
RECRUITMENT SPECIFICATION
Should have at least 9 years aircraft welding experience, including a minimum of 5 years experience on a fast jet or training aircraft.
Should have knowledge of concepts and application of RSAFM 4-7166 series and supporting publications with respect to ferrous and nonferrous metal characteristics. Must have knowledge of the following:
1. Various metal cutting machines, hand tools and precision measuring instruments.
2. Mechanical forces, stresses and strains as applied to tool and die design.
3. Metal repair and fabrication processes to include forging and welding, metal testing inspection and heat treatment,electroplating processes, applied physical and chemical metallurgy.
4. Use of welding and metals inspection testing, heat–treating and electroplating equipment and tools and procedures for safe handling and storage of cyanide solutions, acids and explosive gases is mandatory.
EXPERIENCE: Experience in performing functions such as designing of special precision tool, gauges and dies, production of fabricated metal parts held to close tolerance and electroplating, forging welding, heat treating and metal testing is mandatory prior to recruitment.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
a. EXAMINES AND TESTS CONDITION OF METAL PARTS AND COMPONENTS AND ADVISES ON METALS PROCESSING, DESIGN AND PRODUCTION:
(1) Designs, manufacturers and modifies special precision tool, gages, dies and jigs to facilitate special and routine metal working operations.
(2) Performs machine shop calculations such as determining peripheral cutting speeds and settings for turning special threads.
(3) Determines metal identity and characteristics by subjecting metal to spark, acid, fire, magnetic, alkaline, heat, quench and fracture tests.
(4) Tests specimens for predetermined requirements of tensile, bend, shear and impact strength using materials testing machines.
(5) Compares findings with material and strength requirements contained in blueprints, specifications and technical publications.
(6) Determines repair ability of damaged machined parts.
(7) Determines necessity for heat treating parts, tooling and repair or replacement gages, jigs and dies.
b. HEAT-TREATS METAL PARTS TO SPECIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:
(1) Controls heat-treating furnaces, quenching equipment and other equipment to alter properties of metal objects so as to harden, temper, anneal case-harden or normalize the materials.
(2) Heat treats nonferrous metals by solution and precipitation treating.
c. SURFACE TREATS METAL PARTS:
(1) Sets up and controls planting equipment to coat surfaces.
(2) Performs miscellaneous surface treatments.
d. MAINTAINS TESTING, HEAT-TREATING, METAL SURFACING, METAL WORKING MACHINERY AND EQUIPMENT:
(1) Performs metal working machinery adjustments and maintenance such as leveling machinery, checking gear trains for proper clearance, adjusting, repairing and replacing machine tool devices and parts.
(2) Evaluates inspection reports and surveys and makes recommendations for necessary corrective actions.
(3) Checks installed and repaired components.
(4) Reviews maintenance management publications, technical orders and other information regarding aircraft metals technology.
WORK DIRECTION
* Reporting to the Fabrication Branch Supervisor.
* To work in a team environment being led on a day to day basis by a team supervisor.
* Be able to work with minimum of supervision but being checked regularly during daily activities.
* Regular checks will be carried by the immediate supervisor
* Performance will be reviewed on a regular basis by the Fabrication Branch management team.
* Being able compile, collate training reports on a daily basis to ensure correctness of training records
* Training records for the purpose of ensuring that the trainee progresses through to a higher skill level
* Verbal presentations will be carried on a daily basis with one to one training with the RSAF
* Aircraft Technical material to given to RSAF technician trainees (as required)
